The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is to play on the string we have, and that is our attitude... I believe in fate, but also I..m convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our attitudes. It..s important to take risks in every space in life... When you laugh is to risk appearing a fool. To cry is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out for another is to risk involvment. To expose feelings is to risk rejection. to place your dreams befor the crowd is to risk not being loved in return. To go foward in the face of overwhelming adds is to risk failure. But whatever it is, risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but we cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love. Chained by his certitude, he is a slave. He has forfeited his freedom.
