Saudia Young

Multidisciplinary Artist Saudia Young is the product of a multi-racial New York based family, with an actor father, designer mother and a collage of extended and blood realtives, which includes several artistic luminaries. At a very young age , Young began performing with the Mutual Respect dance company and performance group. The product of a single mom household young and her sister Lovelady, relied on story telling and imagination for company and entertainment, creating 'radio shows', plays and puppet plays. Young sculpted, and stitched puppets and dolls, often writing the scripts as story boards with illustrations. Young has a combination of formal training, learn as you go, as well as being self taught in many art forms including, dance,acting,voiceover, singing and design. The focus always falling on story telling instilled by her mother. Young Co-founded the Wellwater Theatre Company in NYC, with fellow alumni from Wynn Handman's acting studio, performed original Hip-Hop Solo Show, "Sneaker Revolution", as well as in other plays and short films. Young splits her time between New York and Berlin where she is working on an accessories line and her Punk Cabaret music project which is a combination of 1920-30's Jazz, Kurt Weill and original songs.
