I am from Belfast (Ireland) born in the summer of 1972.
In 81 - 82 battles were fought and won... some lost, but nobody died,
to be honest my escape. I was a B.Boy! Started buying electro tapes for my stereo, then got into tape looping and crazy pause button effects. Made a few demo tapes with an MC named Hidden Identity, born was the name DJ troubledsoul (DTS) a sound, a kind of soul coming from the troubles, maybe.
One day I called to see an old friend of mine who had turntables,
he started cutting up two copies of Sugar Bears "Dont Scandalise Mine"
just the intro over and over, and over for about three hours. Didnt matter,
I was caught. My weapon of choice and its been like that ever since.
I am in Berlin right now just learning, feeling, listening, falling down, discovering how to improvise sound / or just be in the room. Sometimes I play with a turntable in a band (myspace.com/troublepenetrator), and am one fifth original founding elemental of the shangl hangl family (myspace.com/shanglhangl) palestine / bremen / belfast. Recently I have just finished some recording with junkfood for his beat tape "algorythm of shadows" (myspace.com/ummamz) out now on the sound equilibrium, a record label I started in 2000 because some one needed to hear it. A few people did, they dug it. We pressed up some vinyl. a life long dream of mine, a couple of times. Made a few mistakes, now I am proud to announce, we are back (myspace.com/thesoundequilibrium).
