About Me

I was a tennis player for about 15 years on the international junior circuit, Division I collegiate circuit, and professional WTA tour and have competed all over Europe, North America and parts of Africa and the Pacific (WTA world ranking in the 400's, national ranking top 5). After retiring with a disc injury, I tested my skills as an archaeologist, an organic farmer, a carpenter, and a semi-pro karaoke singer. Now I am a tennis coach, a bikram yoga enthusiast, a graduate student, a writer, an anthropologist, a documentarian, a wine-taster, and a watcher of bad TV movies...Bikram yoga, writing, taking pictures, listening to music, biking, backpacking, documenting life in general, watching movies and documentaries, traveling, singing to 80's music, road tripping and experiencing different cultures are my escape mechanisms. Oh and olives. I love olives...By the way, I'm taking my act on tour this summer. See schedule below. It's a mixture of improv comedy, standup, singing, screaming, acting, bullshitting, poetry, tennis playing, yoga posing, drawing, driving, and filming. It's the best one-woman show on this page. I also have a band called "The Movers and Fakers" that will be making guest appearances.

My Interests

visual anthropology, writing, social theory, filming, photography, bikram yoga, playing tennis!, staying mobile, being outside as much as possible, thunder and lightening storms and rainy days in general, hiking up mountains, dark bars, writing in coffee shops in different villages and cities all over the world, riding my bike at night, walking in anycity, taking road trips, discovering new music, good red wine, very dark chocolate, strong coffee...

I'd like to meet:

Good-hearted people that are true to themselves and to others; people who don't lie; people who use the words "I luv you" selectively; people who show their emotions; people who have perspective; people who aren't fake; people who don't care so much what everyone else thinks; people who confront their problems; people who dare to ask tough questions; people who like to travel and write; people who like to work with their hands; people who like to hike in the mountains; people who work hard to create amazing music and art; people who face their fears; people who are kind and unselfish; people who help others; people who aren't afraid to ask for help; people who like to work with kids; people who try to spread positive energy; people who make me cry with laughter; people who strive to accomplish difficult goals; people who accept that they and the world aren't perfect; people who speak their mind, do what they say, and say what they mean; people who are open to change and diversity; people who are survivors; people who realize that myspace is not real and who get off the computer to meet actual people for friendships...hey, I'm not hatin'; I just prefer to know people in person before they become friends in enhanced, two-dimensional images and witty one-liners...I mean, aren't we a little sick of the close-up, blurry pictures with the thick black eyeliner to make us look like we are another "dark", "intense", "mysterious" "artist"? Please.....
