Band Members: Stackabones Personnel-Butch Zito-Jimmie Brighton-Scott Cooper-Pat Kelly-Christian Salcedo-Steve Doblick-Bobby Black-Chip Clofine-Phil Reece-George Marsh-Ben ColeJim Brighton – Lead Guitarist and singer Jimmie B. is a co-founder of the band(along with Butch Zito). One of the band’s principal Songwriters, he’s responsible for much of the groups original material. His distinctive lead guitar playing adds a recognizable flavor to the tunes. He moved to Austin,Texas from New York in 1980.After playing briefly in a punk band (With the Stains/MDC), Jim joined up with Butch, in 1981,after Butch moved to Tejas. First they called the band SOLAR PIGS...which evolved into STACKABONES in 1982.... Together with Butch Zito, Brighton has created a project that has lasted over 20 years. The New York City native draws from his years in Austin when writing, evident in such songs as 'Texas Town" and "I Been Knockin".He can be heard on many songs sharing leads with Bobby Black and Steve Doblick. His favorite color is Blue. He also sleeps with a pillow over his head and collects elephants. Jimmie lives in Marin Co.,California.Butch Zito – A co-founder of the band, Butch resides in Delaware?Along with Jimmie B.,he too is a principle Songwriter in the band.He is the Lead Singer-Rhythm Guitar player in the band. Butch also draws upon his many years spent in Austin, Texas, where the Band formed in 1982. From the Soap Creek Saloon and Continental Club in Austin, to the Santa Cruz Civic and the Catylyst in Santa Cruz, California, to The Wetlands and CBGB'S in New York City, these folks have played just about everywhere and anywhere (including summer festivals like "The High Sierra" with over 10,000 people, to smaller venues in San Francisco, like the Mabuhay Gardens, Chi-Chi Club or The Keystone) over the years! Fans from coast to coast have been lucky to catch Butch on both electric and acoustic Guitar(although, not at the same time!),and Mandolin. Known for his rich baritone vocal and great stage presence, Butch is a delight to see in any of his several thousand projects. Also a native New Yorker, Butch is a really swell guy. He danced on the High School lunch room table, and once had a dog named Bo. He wrote "Tall Grass",and many other fan favorites.Scott Cooper – Multi-instrumentalist Cooper sticks to the bass during live performances, but plays drums, keyboards, guitars, percussion and vocals on the band’s studio recordings. A prolific songwriter, he also adds new material to the band's repertoire. Scott has worked with blues greats Luther Tucker, Johnny Shines, Rusty Zinn and Robert Lowery,Gary Gates, as well as stints with bluegrass, country and rock bands. His boyhood idol was Butch Goring.Although he hails from St. Louis,Mo.
Scott currently resides in Santa Cruz, California,Surf City USA.Steve Doblick – The band's resident shredder, Steve's guitar solos are driving and psychedelic.Steve moved from his native Pennsylvania to Los Angeles,Ca. as a child. Another great songwriter, Steve lends a decidedly Haight-Ashbury flavor to the music. He also produced the band’s second CD, "Cathy Ann.",which include versions of Zito-Brighton originals "Dont Know When to Quit", "After Dark", "Writing on the Wall",and "This Old Road". Steve looks just like that optical illusion from Psychology 101 where the image can be a bald man,or a sultry lady.He also calls Santa Cruz California home, with his family, when not touring.Bobby Black – Former pedal steel player from Hank Williams’ band (that’s Hank Sr., not Hank Jr.) and the New Riders of the Purple Sage,Comander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen.(amoung many others) Bobby frequently joins the group in the studio.Bobby was recently voted into the Pedal Steel Hall of Fame! His tastefull licks are obvious, and he can be heard on the first and third Stackabones CDs.
