Munk Tung

Hey! We’re Munk Tung, a hard rock band from Orlando, Florida. Thanks for your interest. Our band is comprised of members: Ethan Kennett (Vocals/Guitar), Marcus Crespihlo (Guitar/Vocals), Nick Melashenko (Bass/Vocals), and Marc Kryl (Drums/Vocals). You’re reading this because you’re interested in who we are, what we’re about, and where we are going. Rather than someone else writing the standard “third party” bio about a band they probably know nothing about, we figured we’d just tell you ourselves. Here it is in a nutshell…..
The band formed in the spring of 2006, determined to let the musical styles of each of member dictate the path this group would take. We knew, because of the diverse influences of each member, we would have an arduous task ahead of us… not to mention the time it takes to learn each other’s personalities and build the trust needed to survive as a group. Over the summer months we wrote a ton of songs which let us experiment enough to create the music that would make it onto our debut album. Finally in the fall of 2006, still nameless, we entered the studio under the direction of producer Brett Hestla. After months of recording and mixing, we emerged with a polished product that features diverse, yet catchy songs that combined our vast range of styles. Metal, Rock, Prog, Fusion, Hardcore, and even Pop were utilized in creating a sound that we feel is truly ours. We let the songs, our personalities, and the drive of our band dictate what our name would be…..Munk Tung. This, to us, essentially means, “Actions speak louder than words”. This defines who we are, our creative path, our business model, and our vision for the future.
As you listen to our music or watch us play live, keep in mind that we want to bring you a real, heart-felt musical experience. In an age of computer perfect albums, digital downloading, and the supposed “death of the music industry”, we are still trying to shine through as the world adjusts to how it chooses to be entertained. Of course we are striving for “The Big Record Deal”, “The Huge Radio Hit”, and “The Sold-Out National Tours”. However, the journey is just as important as the destination. The love of making music and playing live is always in the forefront for this band, as well as connecting with as many people as possible. Take a listen, come see us play, talk to us on-line, and maybe buy some CDs or mp3s to show your support. Everyone knows it is hard being an independent artist, but we believe in path that we have chosen. See you all on the road!
