I moved from Orlando, Florida to Los Angeles the beginning of 2004. I've met many interesting people, some have become good friends. I've also met more flakes here than anywhere I've previously lived. Intelligence, sincerity and originality go a long way with me. When did having issues and hangups become chic? LA can be a great place, but for the emotionally sane, it can also be disheartening at times.
I'm a guitarsit, pianist, songwriter singer. I perform on the club circuit regularily, tour occasionally. Never gone for very long. Just long enough. In the summer of 2005, I toured Europe with my band for 5 weeks. I think that was a record. In March I returned to the United Kingdom and did another 15 shows. If you want to see more photos, read a more official bio or listen to my music, visit www.donovanlyman.com. Also be sure to check out www.myspace.com/bluemeridian for SONGS and more Photos.
I enjoy nearly anything active or adventurous. I excersise about 4 times a week. I enjoy golfing, disc golfing, hiking, darts, baseball, softball, chess, roulette, pool, bowling, classic cars, movies, museums and tons more. I want to get back into catamaran sailing one day. I'd like to jump out of a plane again. I want to visit my brother in Rome again and my friends James and Tim in Hawaaii. I do like classic cars. I have a gorgeous 1965 Riviera. I do what I can for the environment to offset its fuel guzzling nature. I do.
A question for those who would send me a freind request without any sort of explanation as to why they'd like to befriend me...."Are you not going to send me a note, along with your friend request?... I mean, you don't just walk into a business and sit behind a desk or put on a uniform without speaking to personnel first. You fill out an application. Tell them why you want to be employed there, etc. This is a good analogy, because I can be a lot of work! :)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I wouldn't mind meeting special female who's nostalgic and fancies the lost art of healthy communication, original, unforgettable adventures and much, much more..... some cool friends in the entertainment biz for trading stories and sharing music, anyone cool enough to appreciate my music and I'd also like to meet Elvis Costello again. Maybe this time I'll do more than just smile at him.Captions for the Above photos, for those who don't know or actually care....1) Myself, George Castells & Chadwick Stienmetz in Manchester England during our recent tour. 2) Jason Jacobs, Myself and Zachariah Selwyn at the Hotel Cafe 3) Me working on a new song, backstage area Pontradarwe Music Festival Wales, Aug 05 4) My 1965 Buick Riviera 425 Wildcat with fresh black paint. 5) Keiffer Sutherland and his 24 castmate and myself at the Firefly in the valley 6) um.. yeah 7) Rolling in my Buick over Laurel Canyon when she was still red. 8) Dave Grohl and myself at Sonia and Michaels old place in Valley Village. 9) Crunchy Granola Tree Huggin' me. 10) House of Blues Orlando opening for the Wallflowers 11) uh. heh heh 12) Cinco De Mayo on Melrose and a nice fan. heh heh 13) The Buick and her Girlfriend in Burbank 14) Backstage somewhere. Music:

I love a great deal of music. I think I have nearly 1,000 CDS. Here are some of my faves in no particular order......Elvis Costello, Cheap Trick, XTC, The Tragically Hip, The Clash, Ramones, Smithereens, R.E.M., The Church, Midnight Oil, Joe Jackson, The Alarm Alot of cool 80's bands. I listen to music dating back to Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis. Beatles of course. I love the innocence of the Beach Boys and the bitterness of the Afgahn Wigs. I dig Alice in Chains, Cracker, Live, Chris Whitley, Mike Viola & The Candy Butchers, The Push Stars, Sting, Police, Wallflowers, Everclear, Peter Gabriel. early Elton, Billy & Rod. Much of the Stones, The Verve Pipe, STP, Robbie Robertson and the Band, Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Led Zepplin, I'm often into 70's Mellow Gold (copyright K-Tel records), Bread, Glen Campbell, 70's Clapton, Bowie. I'm told I do an excellent Neil Diamond impersonation (Richard Pryor too, but that's not music). Billy Bragg is a king, Del Amitri, The Katies. Ok, I'll stop right about there. If it's well written and moving, I'm into it.

Movies:

I like powerful films like Life Is Beautiful or the Shawshank Redemption. I also really like good foreign and indie films. For comedy's I'd have to put the Blues Brothers near the top of the list. I love disaster films. Anything with tidal waves, volcanic eruptions or tornados is a must see. I went through a "post-apocalyptic" B movie phase. Also in the disaster movie genre I suppose. I'm known to even enjoy a classic romance from time to time. I can quote lines from "Somewhere in Time" all day long. Most days are too short for that though. One of my favorite movie's (when it finally gets made) is the one I've been scripting for about a year. The working title is "buy my screenplay"

Heroes:

Anyone with the motivation, purpose and drive to step forward and make something wonderful happen. Not just for themselves, but for others, for what's left of our amazing planet. That's truly a self achievement.
