About Me

Please note that this is my personal page, and as head cheese in BTT (hahaha) I put here what I freaking well feel like. I'm the resident Metalhead-and the other guys do everything in there power and patience to keep me from riffing overboard ALWAYS.....BTT was formed as a way for me to specifically explore a more "mainstream" audience, as well as to express myself in this medium and to branch out and challenge myself. I have always been drawn to all styles of music, and this is what has come out of this. We have a catalogue of over 40-50 tunes, ranging from funky Chilli Pepper's style, to atmospheric moody Tool and Pink Floyd, a little progressive like vintage Queensryche and Rush, to all out power ballads, like GNR, Scorpions....Why the hell can't bands crossover? Hit many styles? I'm so fed up of the cookie cutter, homogenized garbage that is force fed via mainstream bs.In the late 80's and 90's, I was ripping full out speed thrash metal, with many intricate parts; usually songs were over 7 to 10 minute epic journeys with the hammer on's and blazing arpeggios, complex time changes...which is damm cool, but as an artist, I am drawn to more than just that. - This is almost anti that-less is more approach. Hence the band name- Betterthanthat - It has nothing to do with ego, which we hear all the time, but simply, to strive to be "better than that" each day, personally, musically......But I is who I is, so I've included a solo song, 7, which is the good ole speed laboratory metal weirdness that moves me.... Thanks for passing by, grab a cold one and enjoy your stay.......Dan Lauzon - Entropy (Toronto) 1989 - 1997 2 albums released independantly worldwide, recieved great press and opened up for some great major bands - and than gay ass grunge ( which was all the posers trading in their cowboy boots for lumber jackets and doc martins at least in TO anyways) and fag dj's took over and wiped out the metal scene.......1999 - relocated back to Montreal2000 - BTT is formedEforce 2001 - 2004 Eric X-Voivod, a long time friend of mine approached me after the Voivod split, and within 10 minutes, 2 killer tunes were written. Gigged a few times, and signed after our 4th show to a European label- but for personal reasons, I decided not to move to France.....2000 - 2003 That 70's show - Cover band - for pure fun and maximum beer intake - with Eric and Bryan from EForce. All 70's metal, amped up REALLY loud, played heavier and perhaps even drunker.......

Sounds Like: BTT sounds like a collection of what is going on that day. As the main song writer, I am influenced by real music - man made - not this dj digital crap......Squash Steve Vai , Pink Floyd , Black Sabbath , RHCP & Tool together with Madonna on vox- and that is a start.....I listen to Seal to Slayer, and all points in between, as long as it's real - and not country, rap or whiney-ass shit !!
