"Tikra Li Sihara" Musical Ensemble
Dorin Chay Margalit
Dorin Chay Margalit completed her B.A in musical theory and Philosophy and her M.A in literature with merit. While being a graduate student at Bar-Ilan University, she was appointed to be a teaching assistant in the comparative literature department.
Dorin studied composition with the well known composers Andrei Haidu and Sergio Natra.
She studied Classical Guitar with Maestro Menashe Bakish (whom she later married), who was one of the main developers of guitar teaching in Israel and taught at the Tel-Aviv Music Academy.
Later on Dorin herself became a teacher and taught for eight years at the “Israeli Conservatoire of Music†in Tel Aviv. She has performed on numerous occasions and has participated in literal-musical discussions. These days Dorin performs with her ensemble “Tikra Li Siharaâ€, performing her original compositions.
Prose, articles and poems written by her are
constantly being published in prominent Israeli literature
magazines.
Nati Rosenthal
At the young age of five Nati Rosenthal started taking piano lessons, was already a member of both school choir and the Jewish Community Choir, where she later on became a lead singer.
She started singing Jazz when she was 15 at the Jazz Department of the Music Academy in Klausenburg , as well as taking vocal improvisation classes with Marius Popp and Mircea Tiberian at the Bucharest Music Academy.
In 1999 Nati won the prize for vocal performance at the International Jazz Contest in Romania,
and the same year brought her an award for vocal interpretation at the International Jazz Festival in Greece, Corinth.
She graduated from Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music on a full tuition scholarship granted by the Joint (J.D.C.).
She studied privately with the most sought-after teacher of Jazz and Bebop improvisation in Israel, Amit Golan, and she's currently taking piano lessons with Eric Niceberg at the Shtriker Music Conservatory in Tel Aviv.
She has performed numerous times with different musical ensembles in Israel and abroad (Romania, Greece, Italy)
as well as collaborated with various musicians in diverse fields of music and creation.
Ruth Danon
Ruth Danon began singing and playing the flute at a very young age and sang in various musical groups of different musical genres- from Israeli repertoire to Jazz and Classical music. She was the lead singer of the Ramat-Hasharon Jazz Big-Band, took part in an all female vocal a-cappella group conducted by Rami Bar-David, sang with the “Emek Heffer†choir and performed with the Israeli Broadcasting Network Orchestra. .
Ruth studied music theory, music history and performance in “Alon High-School of Arts and Scienceâ€, and finished her music exams and recital with merit.
Nowadays she takes vocal lessons with Yosef
Adar and sings traditional Jewish music with the “Kehilot Sharot†project,
as well as participating in several musical
groups.
Eli
Amarilio finished his B.A in East Asian Culture at Tel-Aviv University. He
began playing the guitar at the age of twelve, at first playing in various
rock bands. In 2001 he traveled to India, where he began playing the
Sitar, studying with the known teacher Oustad Shoujat Houssein-Hann, in
New-Delhi. Upon returning to Israel he contacted the known Arab-Israeli
musicians Salem Dervish and George Sam'an, who inspired him to study
classical Arab music, as well as teaching him to play the Oud. In
2003-2004 he studied Persian and Arabic music formally in Bar-Ilan
University at the Eastern Music Cathedral with Samir Mahoul, where he took
both theoretical and practical courses. Nowadays, apart from playing with
the “Tikra Li Sihara†ensemble, Eli also performs with “Indiranâ€- a
musical group combining Indian and Persian
music.
Maor Rosenberg
Maor
Rosenberg earned his B.A in mathematics and computer science at Tel Aviv
University, and today continues to work towards an M.A in math, while
taking music lessons with Dr. Bat-Sheba Rubinstein. As a teenager Maor
played bass-guitar as well as playing the organ for several years. Later
on he moved to double-bass and studied with Israel Noymann at the Ramat
Hasharon conservatoire, and nowadays with teacher and musician Michael
Klinghopper. Maor has participated in classes for string instruments, as
part of the "Sounds in the Valley" festival, taking place yearly in
Kibbutz Mizra, as well as participating in master classes conducted by
Diana Gunt (in the U.S) and Wolfgang Gitler (in Germany). These days Maor
plays in a philharmonic orchestra for musicians of all ages, as well as
performing with several Jazz groups. He also manages the Jazz performances
in "Beit-Layvik", Tel Aviv.
Boaz Pollak
Boaz studied percussion and darbukkah, a traditional Mediterranean drum, with the well known teacher and musician Motti Schwartz (student of the great Ali Haffi) as well as with the percussionist Oren Balavan. He has also performed with the singer Kaya as part of the praised musical group "Creation of the World". Boaz has been a student at Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and at the present he is the percussionist of Tikra Li Sihara.
