Hey folks,
I'm raising a little money for a good cause, and at the same time I'm trying to show that small donations can add up to make a big difference. If you can give just $5, you'll help a theater that's been very important to me and you'll also help prove that every little bit really does help:

I hate talking about myself, especially in the third person, so until I find someone else to write one of these for me, this is what you get.
I have always loved music. Always. I started singing and playing piano when I was five or six, and since then have continually been involved in various musical pursuits. There was a lot of choir singing, a lot of piano playing, a brief affair with the flute, and then in college I did the a cappella thing.
I tried to learn to play guitar when I was about fourteen, but I had too many other things going on and it fell by the wayside. Acoustic guitar has long been one of my favorite instruments, though, and I never gave up wanting to learn it. My father and several of my uncles play, and so I have many happy childhood memories that involve acoustic guitars. I guess it was inevitable that I'd pick it up again eventually.
About a year after graduating from Harvard, I was listening to a lot of singer-songwriter, guy-with-acoustic-guitar music, and was inspired to have another go at it. About six months later, I wrote my first song. The rest, as they say, is history. Well, history in the making.
I still listen to a lot of singer-songwriter, guy-with-acoustic-guitar music; I also listen to girl-with-acoustic-guitar music (Jonatha Brooke and Missy Higgins being two of my favorites), and a fair amount of other melody-driven pop/rock (Ben Folds, OK Go, Augustana....). That music, the stuff that's on my ipod 90% of the time, is what primarily influences my writing, but I also come from a background of folk and classical. I love Bach. I grew up on Peter, Paul, and Mary. (Say what you will about them, they're damn good at what they do, and have/had some fantastic material and arrangements.) Hopefully some of the things I learned from them can be found in my songs.
In non-musical news: I'm from New Jersey. I now live outside of Boston and work for a small, awesome company that helps anyone raise money for anything. (For any registered 501(c)3, that is.) My favorite color is yellow. Ummm.... what else would you like to know?
Thanks for listening. Thanks especially to anyone who gets someone else to listen too. You ROCK...
