The Drowners

New album "Cease To Be" out now!

About Me

"The Drowners are among the best of the bunch from Sweden, their CD, Muted To a Whisper, is filled to the brim with in your face power pop and their version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps outshines the original, believe it or not!"...International Pop Overthrow Festival
"Two of the best power pop groups currently playing are The Drowners and Caesar’s Palace"...Steve Gardner, The Big Takeover
"A creative band blend a cool, crisp, calculated edge to their pure pop influences. Plenty blasts of soaring, sometimes moody guitars, crashing drums and sugar-sweet harmonies lighting the fuse on that exploding box of chocolates, matties! Extremely Highly Recommended!"...Not Lame
Meet THE DROWNERS!
At the place where pop meets rock and where melodies intertwine with raw power, thats where we find THE DROWNERS. Shaped by the extreme weather conditions of northern Sweden and the boredom/comfort of small city life, the band emerged in the middle of the Britpop explosion in the early nineties. They embraced that whole era with their feet still firmly rooted in American alternative rock with influences from Hüsker Dü, REM, The Del-Fuegos, The Sidewinders, The Replacements and so on. Add to that a small portion of hard rock and you have the lethal cocktail that is the foundation of THE DROWNERS.
With 4 albums under their belt and a 5th in the making, the band has carved a special little place in the hearts of music lovers all over the world. Is it Power Pop, Alternative, Hard Rock, Metal For Girls or just plain Rock? Does it really matter? Its all about great songwriting and powerful music!
