About Me

I just made a career switch from ESL teacher to professional ballroom dancer, so I'm pretty excited right now. Below is a video of one of my last Pro/Am competitions where I won both the Closed and Open to the World U.S. National Pro/Am Smooth Championships. I'm hoping to have more recent footage up soon.

My Interests

Ballroom dancing, books, music, art, theatre, traveling (even if it means showing up in a country with a small bag, half an outdated map and 5 US dollars to my name), conversation of almost any nature and trying new things . . . unless it's sports, because I really suck at sports . . .

I'd like to meet:

Mainly, I want to reconnect with old friends, but I certainly don't mind meeting new people who are interested in learning to dance.

Music:

I like a little bit of everything to be perfectly honest . . . except country, I just can't seem to get into that.

Movies:

I really like movies, but I haven't actually seen too many. I keep being promised movie nights but never see them come to fruition. :) In any case, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Steve Martin at his best!!) and Memento are two personal favorites.

Television:

Ay, I love TV but I never get to watch it, unless I'm watching someone else's Tivo . . .

Books:

As much as I am an audiophile, I'm an even bigger bookworm. I like to read anything I can get my hands on. However, I'm currently trying to get my Spanish up to speed (a little embarassing since it was my first language!) by reading Chilean comic books. Yes, I know, it's very high brow stuff.

Heroes:

This will probably sound a little strange, but anyone who I have ever seen show truly unselfish and kind behavior is my hero, as ultimately, that is how I would like to be in my life . . . I'm still working on it.

My Blog

My first pro competition!!

So it finally happened! I just got back from Palm Springs where I competed as a professional for the first time. It was really exciting. Jonathan wanted me to hide out for as long as possible, and we ...
