Tony Succar

About Me

Tony Succar was born in Lima, Peru May 18th 1986. He arrived to Miami, FL at the age of two. Tony, a jazz performance graduate from Florida International University, has a true passion for music. "I was privileged to have been born into a family of musicians, I couldn’t be more grateful”, he explained. He has had the great honor to play several times with the great trumpet player Arturo Sandoval, from Cuba; with the Puerto Rican flutist and Grammy winner, Néstor Torres. Tony has also played with great artists such as Tania Libertad, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle and has recorded with Peruvian guitarist Richie Zellon… Recently, Tony started to write after an inspiration. His first salsa song, “Manipula Dora”, has been broadcasted on radio and took the first place spot in the show “Salsa y Punto”. “I tell you people, you are going to hear a lot about Tony Succar... and you will hear from him with golden letters. This production has freaked me out and it is something to talk about”, said the host of the radio, Ricardo Sánchez. This young artist has been influenced by  Ray Barreto, Fania All-Stars, Chucho Valdez, Juan Luis Guerra, Miami Sound Machine, Los Van Van, Perú Negro, and many others. Like them, Tony wants to make an impact in the world with his music. Growing up with so many diverse styles, his goal is to compose music that will attract dancers but also be enjoyable to the listener. He has always had the ability to entertain while keeping his roots and origins in his music. He’s currently the director of his band “Tony Succar y el Grupo Mixtura” and he dreams on performing around the world. In many of his productions, including his compositions and radio jingles, he records himself all the percussion, the piano, the bass, and sometimes even the horns. He does back up vocals and also raps in some of his songs. In addition to his professional goals, Succar believes that "life is a privilege and you have to do the right things to live in harmony." He added that "you cannot be worrying about money and materialistic things because it draws your heart away from your true implication."
