IT'S ABOUT THE ART NOT THE ARTIST...Yes my wife said I should write that :)
Skill was born and raised in the Red Hook Projects
Marvin Gaye sang about how it makes you wanna holla though I'm pretty sure he meant it in different way, possibly in a not so positive light. Nowadays, we shine our Bling-Bling in all our Ghetto-Fabulousness like it's the most beautifullest thing in the world. That's the way to keep it real son. We're children of the hip-hop generation and now that Hip-hop is the mainstream with an all eyes on me persona in full E-F-F-E-C-T it's no wonder why so many of our Kids from the Ghetto want to get rich or die tryin'. Quick to tell you they're hungry. They got to eat, so they hustle and grind for that bread, for that cheddar, for that cream, for that dough, and that cake. It's go hard or go home so they ball big while stacking paper getting their weight up living phat flossing with a thick dime smokin' a blunt that they bought for that nickel. They got their drink and their two step (it's on!)no longer content with having the world walk this way they rather it walk it out waiting for Obama to be elected so they can go to the elections after party {an all white affair} in the chocolate city given by his cousin Rasheed from the Southside and proud to be ghetto. That's bad (not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning good).
