Pistol for a Paycheck stands alone as a true original combining wild guitars, strong percussion, and bold unmistakable vocals venturing forth with little moral, shaping a strange, aggressive, witty, and ultimately addictive sound on their follow up label release to Persona Non Grata entitled Cult Culture.
This high energy garage rock four piece, has been paralleled to bands such as The Faint, Mudhoney, The Refused, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbreaker, The Smiths and At the Drive-In, making a point of steering clear of trends preferring to focus on creating a sound that is their own without backing themselves into any musical corners. Armed with such a strong and passionate sound Pistol for a Paycheck can be seen sharing the stage with a broad range of styles and groups such as; Kane Hodder, School Yard Heroes, Aiden, Down By Law, These Arms Are Snakes, The Fall of Troy, Some By Sea, Post Stardom Depression, Ruby Doe, Amber Pacific, Daphne Loves Derby, The Last Great Liar, and many more.
With the release of their latest record Cult Culture, and the ongoing support of Dark Lake Productions and Pistols off the wall fund raising techniques (i.e. a nickel pornography theater and a childrens mini-aquarium), Pistol for a Paycheck is hitting the scene harder than ever. The band is working to fill their performance schedule and plans to make several pilgrimages across the United States in the next year...
