Chuck Norris can slam a revolving door

About Me

A refreshing blend of intricate harmonies, introspective and brutally honest lyrics, and powerful songwriting are what you might find from Stephen Ferris, a Chicago-based singer-songwriter, who released his freshman album, By Your Porchlight in March 2005. Through a mutual friend, Stephen was fortunate enough to have been introduced to Wesley Cichosz of Fatbaby Studios, and forged an amazing musical relationship through which By Your Porchlight was born. The album boasts and credits some of Chicago’s best and most experienced musicians that really helped flesh out Stephen’s vision to aural perfection. By Your Porchlight envelopes a wide arc of genres and musical directions, always keeping the listener deeply engaged and captivated. This unique collection of songs is a true amalgamation of diverse styles ranging from straight folk to catchy pop rock to raw intimate ballads. Besides the guitars, drums and bass he has incorporated instruments seldom found on your everyday modern record such as the hammered dulcimer, Celtic bouzouki, electric sitar and some saxophones and recorders to round things out. Stephen has created a unique voice in a vast sea of mainstream mediocrity that allows and propels him to be able to sincerely connect with his listeners by way of his approachable songs, witty observations and engaging performances.
