The Horseshoe Inn Acoustic Club

ALL THE NEWS THATS FIT TO SING

About Me

.. width="425" height="350" .. One of Northamptonshire's best loved Acoustic Nights, The Horseshoe Inn Acoustic Club provides an intimate and friendly atmosphere for seasoned players and first time performers alike to showcase their tunes to an audience. Often featuring special guest spots from touring musicians, The clubs relaxed policy on what constitutes "Roots Music " has seen everything from 7 piece Ska bands to Human Beatboxes taking the stage alongside the more traditional singer songwriters. Hosted by the ever amiable Doug Sparkes and Rob Matheson from The Deportees and infused with a mischievious, anarchic spirit, The club has become a favourite haunt for performers and listeners alike. The Club runs on Wednesday nights from 9pm onwards at The Horseshoe Inn, Sheep Street, Wellingborough, And all performers are welcome. Feel free to turn up on a whim with your guitar/accordion/banjo/whatever, but if youre travelling any distance we'd suggest contacting us first to ensure a spot(it gets very busy in there sometimes).Entrance is always free, but if we have a special touring guest booked we'll generally have a whip round during their set to ensure that they have enough cash to stop off for a slap up supper on the way to the next town. Its only fair.More info (directions etc) about The Horseshoe Inn can be found on their website at www.horseshoe-inn.co.uk , We hope to see you there soon.Touring artists wishing to perform a guest spot can get in touch via this page too. Keep Rocking, Folks.

Sounds Like: "I hate a song that makes you think you're not any good. I hate a song that makes you think you are just born to lose. Bound to lose. No good to nobody. No good for nothing. Because you are either too old or too young or too fat or too slim or too ugly or too this or too that...Songs that run you down or songs that poke fun of you on account of your bad luck or your hard traveling. I am out to fight these kinds of songs to my very last breath of air and my last drop of blood. I am out to sing songs that will prove to you that this is your world and that if it has hit you pretty hard and knocked you for a dozen loops, no matter how hard it's run you down nor rolled over you, no matter what color, what size you are, how you are built, I am out to sing the songs that make you take pride in yourself and your work. And the songs I sing are made up for the most part by all sorts of folks just about like you."Woody Guthrie 1912-1967 RIP
