Juke Joint Jump

Red Hot Jumpin' Rhythm & Blues. CD OUT NOW

About Me

Juke Joint Jump formed late in 2005 after ex Bus Stop Boys Paul Richardson Drums, Olly Prime Bass and Ian Gillon Junior, Guitar and lead vocals, decided to try something new. The Bus Stop Boys had reached the end of the road and the time was right for a change. The main difference with Juke Joint Jump is the addition of full time piano man Ed Graham. It was clear instantly at the audition on the day the boys got together that he could add a new dimension to the band and as you will hopefully hear for yourselves on Ed's Wouzzy Boogie Bounce, the boy sure can boogie. All that was left to do to complete the band was to add the horn section. The Tenor sax position was an obvious choice, the master blaster Alex Bland. Al had been sitting in on the last few Bus Stop Boys gigs on Baritone but his heart has always been with the Tenor sax. Many of you will know of his work with many other popular bands such as The Metrotones, Sophie Garner, The Big Six and more recently Oceans Seven. Say no more! The finishing touch to the six-piece line up that stands before you today is Barry (the lip) Few. Barry has played trumpet in many fine Jump and swing bands including Sugar Rays Flying Fortress but is possibly better recognised for his role as front man for The Alabama Slammers. Juke Joint Jump are all about having a good time. The live set includes a selection of cover songs by artists ranging from Bullmoose Jackson to Louis Prima and Louis Jordan and original songs penned by Ian Gillon Junior and Paul (the talent) Richardson. All are designed to give the dancers a great deal of exercise, whilst at the same time entertaining the sit down crowd with some slightly risqué lyrics. From the innuendos of Wynonie Harris' Wasn’t That Good to the rather more obvious self penned Sweet On Her Meat. The swinging Almost Like Being in Love and All of Me sit cosily alongside the Rock 'n' Roll of Ollie's world famous rendition of Fats Dominos Be My Guest and the Rhythm & Blues of Hit Git & Split and Surely I love You. The Latin beats of the bands own Hot Cuban Heat and Jokers Wild add further variety and spice to the 40’s and 50’s sounds and tempos on offer. The tracks you can hear on this site are some of the bands own songs plus a cover of Louis Jordan's Reet Petite and Gone, which have just been recorded and feature on their first CD "Woman Stop Flappin' Yer Gums" which is out now on Shack Records Cat no. SHKR010. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

Sounds Like: The debut CD Woman Stop Flappin' Yer Gums is out now. For a copy contact us here or google for a list of on line distributors or you can download at emusic.com. A mighty big sound from the dance halls of the late 40's to the early 50's. It is ok to listen to but much better to see live and get up and dance to. If you like Jiving, Lindy hoppin, Jitterbuggin' or Strollin then Juke Joint Jump are right up your alley. Book them for your rockin' and rollin' events and watch your dance floor bounce!
