Here is my official bio.
Frank Fontsere began drumming at the age of 10. He was given his first drum kit as a Christmas present from his parents after he decided that he had no particular affinity for the guitar; a previous Christmas present. He did, however, have a natural affinity for the drums and began to take lessons with a private instructor. He soon decided that he would rather learn on his own and began spending many afternoons happily bashing away in his upstairs bedroom, much to the chagrin of his neighbors. Listening through headphones and playing along to his favorite rock records by the likes of Kiss, Van Halen, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin he soon developed the simple yet powerful style that is his trademark today.Over the years there were many bands that were formed and then "unformed," all while working the usual string of meaningless day jobs to pay the rent. A break finally came along in the form of Stuck Mojo.
Although Frank had known guitarist and founding member Rich Ward since 1988 and had actually played with the band previously, the relationship didn’t cement until 1996 when , with a record contract on indie label Century Media and a debut album ’Snappin Necks’ already in record stores, Frank was asked to become the band’s permanent drummer. From then until the band’s hiatus in mid 2000, Frank’s two-fisted but decidedly tastefully drumming was heard on Stuck Mojo’s six subsequent releases; Violated (European release EP), Pigwalk, Rising, HVY 1 (live album), Declaration of a Headhunter, and Violate This (a collection of previously unreleased material). The band developed a reputation in the rock world as one of the hardest working groups crisscrossing the U.S. playing 200 shows a year, headlining on their own and doing tours opening for the likes of Pantera, Type O Negative, Testament, and BioHazard. Not to be contained simply by the Atlantic ocean, Stuck Mojo was a staple on the European circuit as well playing to some of their biggest audiences (upwards of 50,000 people) at Holland’s infamous Dynamo Festival both in ’96 and ’98.
After years of hard work and about 500,000 units sold worldwide, internal pressures and record company politics began to take their toll and the band began to find themselves at a crossroads. A decision was made for Stuck Mojo to take a much needed break.
In late 1999 Frank and Rich formed a side project called "Fozzy Ozbourne". Born soley of a desire to have some fun bashing out beloved metal tunes of the eighties, this "cover band" would eventually become the internatinally known entity called Fozzy. Guitarist Ward had become friends with then WCW wrestling superstar Chris Jericho who was a fan of Stuck Mojo. After discovering that they had similar tastes in music it was decided that Jericho would front the fledgling project and Fozzy was born. Sporting wigs and over the top outfits, Fozzy began doing gigs around the southeastern U.S..
The loud, bombastic shows both lampooned and paid homage to an era of music that many metal fans still had a soft spot for. The combination of Fontsere and Ward’s musical prowess and Jericho’s natural performing ability was a hit and the band soon found themselves with a record deal. Fozzy’s self-titled debut album was released in 2000 coinciding with a half-hour "mockumentary" that featured cameos by Sebastian Bach, Dee Snider, Mike Portnoy, and Zakk Wilde. The "Spinal Tap" like film was shown in it’s entirity on MTV. The band’s sophmore effort "Happenstance" was released in 2002. The band has appeared live on Howard Stern’s radio show, twice on WWE’s top rated Monday Night Raw program and also in a nationally televised soft drink commercial playing an original song that was also featured on a WWE superstars album. The outrageous eighties imagery was eventually abbandoned just before releasing the band’s third album "All That Remains" in January 2005.
Two tours of Europe were to follow culminating with an apperance at the prestigious Download festival in June, and a tour of Australia in september. Frank’s playing was also featured on Rich Ward’s solo .project called "The Duke". It’s debut album "My Kung-Fu is Good" was released in April 2005 on Spitfire Records with a U.K. tour which followed. After the Australian tour, Frank and his bandmates made an amicable decision to part ways. Frank went on to join the Atlanta based band Soundevice. Frank was asked to join after former Nickleback drummer Ryan Vikidal, who had just recently replaced their original drummer, had to step down for personal reasons. Frank’s new band is called "love Said NO" and features Erik Rogers (Stereomud, Soundevice) on vocals,
Bobby Burns (Soulfly, Primer 55) on bass,
and Billy Grey (Soundevice, Method 51) on guitars. Their profile can be found at
