About Me

ForjakConceptually bright and ahead of their time, Forjak is a compelling melding of extremes, both in personality as well as musical direction. Spanning the globe, the members unite from varying national origins, each contributing, from their own unique roots, to a masterfully formed hybrid of collective inspiration and intuition. The members include: Taku Saito, Guitar (Japan); Jisun Choi, Piano (Korea); Cooper Appelt, Double Bass (Texas); Tony Spiro, Drums (California). Since their materialization in January of 2006, Forjak has completed their debut album “Look Between Us” which places emphasis on the band’s singular focus: to create a new genre of music. In combining forces both musical and intellectual, the cultivated brainchild is one of delicate structure and steadfast consistency. Mirroring the human experience, the mellow grooves follow the always-changing path of life, at one moment filled with exuberantly ecstatic intensity, and at others, calmly trickling with the throb and flow of tears; from inner peace to suffering, the music parallels emotion in all forms as beautifully captured abstractions and as pure, raw, unadulterated feeling. There is no need to mentally filter pre-meditated devices, as the music provides the listener with an honest reflection of experience and action. The new genre is a musical revelation that combines many artistic sub-genres including music, film, and drama on stage: mixed media of eccentricity boiled down into one pure directional work of art with a purpose. Whether the action draws inspiration from the music, or whether the music is taking direction from film or stage performance, one feels this is a question with no definitive answer. The notes are so carefully formulated that there is no distinction between the two artistic partners—it becomes immediately apparent that the music exists in equal cohabitation with the forum for which it was created. Like Forjak’s blending of musicians from many backgrounds, the music takes on seamless shape, thriving with exponentially expanding energy in direct response to the extreme diversity from which it springs forth.
