Owen is a sociopathic career thug who has been summoned to a small town to abduct a retired oil millionaire. He and a local yokel named Slick are simply to hold William Phillips in a remote cabin for 48 hours until the ransom is delivered, but Owen has a nasty violent streak, and will kill at the slightest provocation. He experiences tormented flashbacks to a traumatic childhood event concerning his prostitute mother, and becomes unglued when crossed. Owen cons his way into the good graces of the local sheriff, who regards him as a harmless, friendly drifter, even after discovering Phillips' broken glasses discarded in a field. While Owen ventures into town to score some grass at a local pool hall, Phillips escapes into the woods, with Slick in hot, but clumsy, pursuit. Meanwhile, the millionaire's daughter is at the family home, preparing for a party to announce her engagement to the very man who has arranged this kidnapping. Owen arrives, talks his way in, and is compelled to kill. Will the sheriff put all the pieces together in time to save the town from this bloodthirsty Texan?"Owen is tall, muscular, black and ballsy. His reputation as a lover has become so awesome that he is sought after almost as much in that capacity as in his expertise as a hair stylist. Everything is cool for Owen until he messes with the mob in an effort to protect his young, attractive receptionist from her former boss. Owen, equipped with chain saw in hand, gets down on the vicious mob gang."Mr. story began his career writing on an old Underwood typewriter, but as his career progressed, he eventually purchased a 386 class computer running Windows 3.1. Among his friends he can count both multi-millionares who own Beech Starships to down-on-their-luck homeless people, moving effortlessly between the social strata. Owen always strived to solve mysteries within five minutes of the end of each program, unless the producers felt they could prolong the nail-biting suspense across two episodes. Perhaps his most notable experience was encountering a Mr. Potts who preferred to be called Mr. Bond - he did at least have an Aston Martin DB6, in which Owen himself ended up racing to the rescue.Owen's relationship with law enforcement officials varied from place to place. Both the sheriffs of Cabot Cove were used to, or resigned themselves to, having him meddle in their cases. Most detectives and police officers didn't want him anywhere near their crime scenes, until his accurate deductions convinced them to listen to what he had to say. Others were fans of his books and glad to let him snoop. He made friends in many police departments across the USA, as well as a British police officer attached to Scotland Yard.
