About Me

Otherwise known as 'Emma Westwood – bon vivant, flaneur, wordsmith (English only)'
Click to zoom in on my visitor map!
After toying with thoughts of a career as a filmmaker, which included an indulgent summer stint at New York University studying cinematography, Emma Westwood found the strain on her bank balance too tough and leapt into the world of freelance writing.Such a career move proved less than lucrative, but, even if the rent was late, she was well-nourished by a diet of champagne and canapés at many opening nights in her role as arts editor of a street press magazine in Melbourne. Other gigs included newspaper journalism, arts programme editing and a brief, but highly satisfying, stint as a television researcher. When she’s not dashing from openings and closings and proclaiming that she's "so over the arts right now", you can find her listening to soul and disco music, sitting happily on Seminyak Beach in Bali, staring over rice paddies receiving Deeksha transmission or enjoying her guilty pleasure - Italian horror movies.

My Interests

Year-long summers - chocolate that is dark and rich, and/or comes in cakes that are flour-free - deep tissue massages - espresso machine coffee - fart jokes - sleeping - horizon-line swimming pools - peace and harmony - dry martinis - travelling anywhere in the world - more sleeping - breakfasts that start at noon and involve eggs, avocado, salmon and hollandaise sauce - trivia nights - dancing - 42 below manuka honey vodka - tropical gardens (with monkeys) - zombies

I'd like to meet:

Noice people.PS. As someone who writes for a living, Emma is trying to be semi-professional here, although the fact that she's stating her star sign and, ahem, "status" (and talking in the third person) may be undermining that attempt somewhat...
