"Bobby Liebling was churning out proto-metal blackness when Ozzy Osbourne was still learning how to plug in a microphone!"- Metal Maniacs
*** The following are words from original PENTAGRAM drummer and co-founder Geof O'Keefe to fellow doomrock pioneer, Bobby Liebling in 2001. "You were my best friend for many years and I really looked up to you. You were in a band (Shades of Darkness). You did drugs. You'd had sex. All the stuff I hadn't yet experienced at the tender age of thirteen, but you told me all about it and eventually introduced me to much of it. Well, not the sex part .. but the information was useful. And it was your influence that was in my mind and convinced me to buy the fist Blue Cheer album instead of the Turtles Greatest Hits one day at the Navy PX. You and I formed a great band in the fall of 1971, and I have many, many fond memories of the subsequent five years. I have nothing but praise for your intense stage performances and incredible songwriting. Tracks like ..Mad Dog, ..Target.., ..Ask No More.. and ..If the Winds Would Change.. still go through my mind and they were a hell of a lot of fun to play from a drummer..s standpoint. We co-wrote some killer tracks too, and someday the world needs to hear ..Wheel of Fortune.., ..Sufferin.., ..Backlash, and the others. I'm proud of you for keeping the Pentagram flame sizzling for all these years". ***
