Hooded Priest was founded on June 6th, 2006 as a doomed collaboration pact between members of Dutch and Belgian metal-outfits Witchsmeller Pursuivant, Zwartketterij, Grimm and Wapenspraak & Drinkgelag. These musicians had been in contact with eachother since the mid-nineties through the honourable and highly esteemed Committee of Metalheads with an Unbelievably Low Sense of Humour (abbreviation in Dutch: CMOLH) and were now seeking to create the ultimate bizarre fusion between screaming blackened hardrock-guitars and doomed rock ‘n roll. The band started out as a classic heavy metal four-piece, yet soon recruited double bass-player Otto Von Zelst to add to the dynamics of the compositions with a deep darkened bass-pulse and psychotic percussion-picks. During these first years of existance the band has created a considerable number of songs and were ready to hit the stage in 2008, Dutch Doom Day(s) was one of the highlights were they played among some big names of the Doom scene without having released anything themselves, not even a demo. Hooded Priest were indeed ready to record their first demo-tape after J-Maze joined , but on the verge of 2009 Hal Stormer (drums) quitted the band to focus more on his other band Grimm. Hooded Priest then released a limited rehearsal-cdemo 'Call For The Hearse' as a farewell tribute to Hal Stromer. Cornelius Backus (from dutch black-metal outfit Inverted Cross) was asked to join the band to put some 'Dynamic Dynamite' into the songs before they will get recorded, something which finally turns into reality this summer. The album will be released by Emanes Metal Records. Subsequently, once again many a stage will sink under the weight of its doom in the course of 2009!
