About Me

MyGen Profile Generator

FunNotFame Productions

Although we sponsor a team and have a growing line of skateboards, apparel and accessories supplied to core skate retailers worldwide, we are not a skateboard company. First and foremost an idea, FunNotFame is best described as a skateboarding-based publishing and production firm founded in 2003 by author, screenwriter and lifelong skateboarder Chris Long, a member in good standing of the Writer's Guild of America, West.

At FunNotFame we're far more into ideas, concepts and experience than products and the bottom line. We don't have the traditionally myopic business structure many skateboard companies and brands do. You won't find that "we're the shit and the universe revolves around us and what we're doing" mentality here. We don't need to view other brands and companies as competitors simply because nobody else is doing what we do. We have no competition, we promote intra-industry cooperation and we are proud to be quite possibly the only company that is 100% core-shop cooperative.

We've had more than a few industry figureheads tell us that we need to maximize distribution in order to be successful. With no offense to them, we simply don't believe this is true. After all, it's the core skateboard shops that have built the customer base of all skateboarding-related companies on the market today, and our philosophy is that core skateboard shops ALWAYS take priority over corporations.

So whether you're visiting for the first time, a faithful devotee or an insidious hater, we welcome you to the newly updated www.funnotfame.org and we encourage you to participate.

My Interests

Skateboarding's independent publisher.

Dedicated to showcasing the creative, artistic or otherwise intellectual abilities of skateboarders worldwide. Publishing and distributing printed matter authored, edited, curated, photographed, illustrated or in any other way inspired by skateboarders or the act of skateboarding.

FunNotFame books are available direct and through our distributors, Last Gasp of San Francisco, AK Press of Oakland and Partners West, Seattle. FunNotFame also distributes an ever-growing variety of titles from the most creative and influential minds in skateboarding.

You may purchase the latest titles from FunNotFame or any of our associate publishers at these fine establishments: City Lights of San Francisco, FTC, Cowtown, Barnes & Noble, Left Bank Books, Uprise, Westside Skateshop, KRUDco, 35th North, Bazr Gallery, and more soon to be listed online at funnotfame.org .

We are always looking to establish retail and wholesale accounts so if you're a core skateshop, independently owned bookstore or distributor that would like to support skateboarders and skateboarding, feel free to complete an application and place your initial order.

Television:

TELEVISION:

In general, television sucks mainly because over the last twenty years six dominant firms have come to control 80% of all Hollywood writing employment constituting a bona fide monopoly that homogenizes news, educational and entertainment programming. Hence the monotony and general creative sterilty of modern broadcasting.

On the other hand, we back a few shows: Meerkat Manor, Ultimate Fighting Championships, the Ruben Orkin documentary that aired on FUEL TV, public television in general, Beavis & Butthead, the Simpsons, King of the Hill, Major League Baseball, Miami Ink...documentaries on Ancient Egypt, psi-phenomena or religion tends to be interesting as well.
