Enlightenment Through Music

About Me

In the fall of 2003, a band emerged from the heart of Birmingham, UK known as ‘Finishing Point’. The original members had all attended the same school and upon leaving, were about to embark on new paths that would change the rest of their lives. A call was made on the 6th September 2003 by founding member Edward Johnston, who had always wanted to form a death metal band, to Daljit Sagoo, who was unaware that he was to be asked to become the future drummer of a metal band. He unquestionably accepted the proposition as it was a lifelong dream of his, as was also Edward Johnston’s. The next task was to appoint a bassist and it was from here that the two members decided to bring in another school friend to fulfil the position who gladly accepted as he had also presented a keen interest in metal music.
They were now a complete band, and after a serious discussion, they decided that Edward Johnston would cover vocals, as well as guitars and to keep the bassist (who will not be named for legal reasons) on backing vocals. Many songs were written in the coming months and slowly instruments were accumulated to accommodate their musical fusions. In late 2004, as a band it was decided that the name ‘Finishing Point’ did not suit the type of music that they were creating which was death metal, and not nu-metal. Many names were discussed and the bassist suggested ‘Enraptured By Evil’ which was a better title, but they then decided to shorten it to ‘Enraptured’ as it sounded more plausible because it expressed more meaning.
Unfortunately, a year later the bassist departed from the band due to issues of commitment and musical differences. They then faced the dilemma of being without a bassist, so it was then that they decided to bring in Jed Wilkins, who wilfully accepted the position without hesitation. From then, the band was making better music and communication had been better then ever. Due to this, it was decided that the music was going to be a main focus for the band, and another member was needed to fulfil the role of being a vocalist, so the other members could concentrate on making the music. It was here the band called upon Paul Starkey, who as a member went through many line-up changes such as first being a keyboardist, then a custom percussionist and lastly, now a vocalist.
The band has just celebrated their 4th Anniversary and are now trying to put all written material together through rehearsals in local studios and sessions at each member’s houses. The band works around the fact that members are full-time education and employment, as they have an understanding that other bands do not share. Many of the members have been asked to join other bands, but have always kindly refused as their commitments were and always will be with Enraptured.
