Not For Resale was set up by Fokka Wolfe in the summer of 2005 when he realised that there was too much good stuff happening in this city to ignore, so he invented Not For Resale. Handing over the reigns to Meatbreak in late 2006, NFR continued it's life upstairs at Fitzherberts on alternate Wednesdays until October 2007 where it moved to The Penthouse (above the infamous Freebutt - y'all know that, right?). Not For Resale is now happily ensconced inside THE PENTHOUSE playing our unique range of newer than new music of all sorts on the FIRST THURSDAY of every month.
The night is dedicated to playing demos and new music from Brighton and beyond and we dig around the venues, streets and alleys looking for the bands on the edge of greatness, genius even, - we and you know this town has it - tapping into seams of never before imagined sounds because we want to hear it and let others hear it too. With no music policy other than an emphasis on Brighton demos and the newest most exciting music, we’ll play anything so long as we like it. We’ll even spin your tracks on the night if you bring something down.
In April 2007 we launched our first NFR LIVE! club night. Uniquely FREE, especially for YOU, we hold court on the SECOND FRIDAY (or thereabouts) of every month in the THE HOPE , on Queen's Road with the Meat-Wolfe/Wolfe-Meat feral disco duo dropping phosphorescent dancing music of the most cutting edge, body rocking neon-diskko, ghetto-electro, mutant-indie, cosmic-psych, feral-rocking kinds, with peformances from some of the best live bands around town.
Bands that have played NFR shows include:Parker , Robot Ninja Dinosaur Bastards , Coin Op , Lords Spiritual , Girls From Egypt , Revenge Of Shinobi , Old Mayor , Power Up! , My Device , Catnap , Raised On Replicas , Marnie Stern , Skill 7 Stamina 12 , Towering Breaker , Back Stabbath, Deliberate , HRT , The Cylons , Enid Blitz , Mr Jack Cooper , Combinations , Anon , Sick Buildings , Godzilla Black , Everyone To The Anderson , Lonely Ghosts , Duke Raoul , Medicine & Duty , Transformer , Gowns , Zettasaur , Monsters Build Mean Robots , Foxes! , Plastic Passion , The Lucans , Everyone To The Anderson , One Unique Signal , MC Fashion ,Autumn Chorus ,Kontakte , Passiondale ,...to be continued
