i'm not very good with films. i can fall asleep in the most exciting or horrifying bits, and usually completely forget what it was about until i watch it again - half way through it starts ringing bells! can't be arsed with a lot of cheese or pointless gunsplatter i.e. most american films. i like world cinema specially european and offbeat comedies, short films and character based films..all time favourites include the shining, y tu mama tambien, spirited away, koyaanisqatsi, shaun of the dead, the goonies, three colours redwhiteblue, delicatessen, withnail and i, amelie, human traffic, the cannonball run
i dont have one and i dont miss it!! but i can occasionally be persuaded to sit still and watch dvds from tv..if its funny intelligent surreal or beautiful i can justify the time spent watching stuff like spaced cyderdelic mighty boosh monkeydust black books life in the undergrowth green wing planet earth black books peep show nathan barley and all of chris morris's other creations...
whatever interesting lands my way i will give it a go! my literary diet runs far and wide .. i go back for more from bill bryson, roald dahl, calvin and hobbes, ben elton, louis de bernieres, gabriel garcia marquez, will self,herman hesse, alexander mccall smith, bukowski, huxley, orwell...and i love childens books especially with beautiful illustrations - those that shine in my childhood memory include the bfg and the twits, phoebe the hare who goes to the moon, where the wild things are, "the one with the skeletons in", mog the witches cat, the snowman, the hungry caterpillar, the old man of lochnagar and the selfish giant... recent acquisitions beegu and the gruffalo !
