About Me

The Annual Ashville Viking Festival will be held in the Ashville Ohio Village Park, the Last weekend of April. This festival will celebrate the Vikings from 1000 years ago and various aspects from their time. Vikings influenced trade, story telling, and systems of justice and secured a uniquely proximate place for women in their culture. ----This festival is being held as a fundraiser for the Ashville Community Club, various school groups from the Teays Valley School System, youth groups in the area and the Ashville Food Pantry. ----The Viking Ship “Norseman” a 40-foot ½ size-working model of the Gokstad Viking Ship is coming as a highlight of the festival. The Norseman will be sailing in Columbus, Ohio on Friday before the festival during the day in O'Shaughnessy Reservoir. The Norseman is recently returned from St. Petersburg Russia where it joined the 300th Anniversary of the city’s founding. ---- The Norseman will be on display for the Viking Festival. Along with Viking re-enactors encamped in a living history area. Other re-enactors include Roman, 15th Century German mercenaries, 10th Century Irish. War of the Roses and more.---- There are two food venues both featuring stage entertainment. As part of the event there will be games, Over 40 period vendors with items for sale, and free entertainment including Music, Story Telling, Swordplay, Fire Eating and more. 30+ Shows daily. ---- Festival Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission free: canned food donation for the local food pantry is requested. Period dress in encouraged, but not required. Food and Beverages available for sale. ---- Both Saturday and Sunday Breakfast starts being served at 8 AM
