Mac Cunanan grew up in an artistically inclined family. He was surrounded by music all his life, which led him to his passion for music. He started by making hip-hop beats and writing down lyrics when he was just in grade school. His love then evolved to electronic music, and he started collecting trance vinyl’s when he was still in high school. He started studying how to spin along side another promising DJ (Ponch Del Rosario) in the last quarter of 2003. First practicing on the CD format, they just taught themselves with the aid of the internet and a book “How To DJ†by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. By early 2004 they then got tired of using CD decks and moved on to learning how to manipulate the turntable. His quest for his Vinyl collection started again. August 2004, Mac got his first gig at a bar in Makati, and that’s when it started. Manila got a taste of Mac’s Music. He was given the chance to play in bars such as Bora bar, Peligro/ Hole, Bellisima, Absinth, Quisine 6750, Nuvo, M.Cafe, Capones, Embassy (VIP & Cuisine), Mezze, Fez, &Fiamma, just to name a few. Every summer Mac Cunanan is asked to play in provinces such as Pampanga, Baguio, and the white sand beaches of Boracay. Mac has a superb selection of music, which consists of House and Techno. His wide range of music style can go from down tempo, deep, disco, funky, to tech. Learning and being inspired by his favorite DJs/ Producers, his knowledge and taste in music continues to grow and mature. August 2005, Mac Cunanan formed his own Production’s Company / DJ group ~Curv Productions, consisting of Ponch Del Rosario, Erwin Edralin, Martin Ballesca, Ali Nepomuceno, and Noel Sarmiento. They got their first residency at a well respected place “Manila DJ Club†and then quickly followed by Maestro Lounge, Bamboo Lounge, Intoxica, & BEDspace. ~CURV now regularly spins @ Warehouse 135 & Cyma @ Greenbelt. 2007 is a promising year for Mac Cunanan and his fellow DJ’s of ~Curv Productions.
