Box 561244, Orlando, FL 32856. www.aleena.com/magi www.amagibellydance.com (under construction)Our A MAGI Temple near downtown Orlando, FL - School of Belly Dance, Ethnic Dances & World Beat specializes in Belly Dances for beginners through Professional (Classical Oriental, Egyptian Cabaret, Tribal Fusion) plus Flamenco, Indian Bollywood, Drum Classes & Mystical Healing classes.Melanie LaJoie, A MAGI Director has studied & performed Mid-East & Far Eastern dances for over 30 years plus is a 4 times gold medalist in traditional Chinese Kung Fu (Wahlum Northern Praying Mantis - hand form & weaponry: broadsword, staff). She has studied from such great stellar artists as Vina Haddad (sister to George Abdo - King of Belly Dance Music), Ibrahim (Bobby) Farrah & Phaedra of Near East Dance Group, NYC, LaMeri (Grand Dame of Ethnic Dance). Her interest in Kung Fu began with her search for the intercultural exchange of dance from her native Russian/Lithuanian Gypsy Maternal Heritage (Paternal is French & American Indian) to the Mid-East & then to the Far East. When she finally "got to" Chinese dance in her studies, she found Wahlum Kung Fu in Boston who later moved to Orlando (www.wahlum.com). After Melanie "found" Wahlum in Orlando, she continued her training in Kung Fu. "I love the sacredness of the ancient Mid-East/Far East dances & that of Kung Fu also. For me they center me physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually!" I also have fun "exploring" my past lives in these forms & express that creativity in my shows......Now are you curious????
