!Slainte! Welcome and thanks for stopping-by my page..Who am I? These days a "crazy good" Dad to an 12-year-old son..A workin' man..Oh aye and I also play the pipes, a variety of different sets from around the world. A few examples of these can be heard on this page. Over the last 12 years or so I've played in front of a lot of people and visited numerous countries and met many, many fine people.. Europe, the west coast of North America, Russia, India, Turkey, China and, of course, well neigh every part of Scotland and the UK. Maybe we've met already.. I've got to know so many good people on my journey..Great times..Fantastic memories.......Anyway, back to what I'm about.. Outside of family my main passions in life are motorcycles, Scotland and bagpipes. As everyone knows these are ancient instruments, almost as old as the hills, but yours truly is very much a creature of his time and enjoys mixing his tunes with other musical gendres, particularly anything HEAVY! A recent example can be heard on the "Jammin" track - a collaboration between Edinburgh stonerrock band "The Gods of Future Mythology" and myself..Great fun and more to follow.... When not cranking it up with the likes of "The Gods" I'm very much my own man when it comes to music.. Been blowing pipes since the age of 12 - over 25 years now - and spent my formative years doing the usual pipe band competition thing. Wasn't until I started heading off into the Highlands on a motorcycle in my early 20s that I really connected with the pipes....For this was when I discovered the Pibroch or Cel Mor (Big Music) -beautiful, epic, mesmeric soundscapes from hundreds of years ago and uniquely Scottish too! You can hear my take on a couple of classic Pibrochs at this page's music section - "Too Long In This Condition" and "Battle At the Bridge of Perth 1396" (played on electronic pipes!) Other examples can be downloaded at my web-site www.jimithepiper.co.uk along with several 'wee numbers' written by myself... Piping is a global phenomenon. I have sets in the hoose from Spain, Eastern Europe, Ireland , the Middle East, and, of course, Scotland...You can watch/listen to me playing arabic pipes on a wee film further doon this page..All self-penned material..
