About Me

There can be few successful DJs born in the South Australian desert, but Andy Morris is one of them; having previously been voted in the top 50 of DJ Magazines top 100 poll.Growing up in Sydney, Andy began Djing while studying at University, playing to finance his studies. It was his move to London in 1991 saw his musical career take off. Writing for DJ magazine, he was also playing and promoting clubs such as Kinky Overdose and the Café De Paris. This led to residencies at the legendary Club UK and the Leisure Lounge. Andy has since played in pretty much every country in the World, even Kazakhstan has been rocked by the big Australian!Andy built a solid foundation with his weekly Thursday underground dance radio show on Kiss 100 FM, London where his cult show ran for 9 years, outlasting most of his peers. Today Andy has a weekly show on Ministry of Sound radio (Friday 6-8pm : www.ministryofsound.com)Andy has been denting the charts and damaging dancefloors with the production and remixing duo of Andy and Stuart Crichton, known as Narcotic Thrust. The boys enjoyed a UK chart No 9 record with the anthemic 'I Like It', a track that went to be a worldwide hit.. 'I Like It' followed the style its predecessor 'Safe From Harm' with the funk provided by the Brand new Heavies rhythm section and vocals by Zero 7's Yvonne John-Lewis'Safe from Harm' was signed directly by Pete Tong after hearing the record being played by Deep Dish in a Washington Club. It soon became a favourite of charts of Sanchez and Tenaglia as well as being an official club chart Number 1 and the most played record on UK national Radio 1, ending up at number 23 in the national charts. It was undoubtedly one of the biggest dance tunes of 2002.Next up is the male vocal anthem, 'When The Dawn Breaks', another potential global anthem which is slated for release early in 2005.The boys also remixed Kylie Minogue's last single , 'Red Blooded Woman' and were responsible for one of the remixes of 2003, Cassius' ' The Sound Of Violence' for Virgin Records .In his own right Andy remixed Poloroid's massive 'So Damn Beautiful', a number 1 Cool Cuts, Buzz Chart and Club Chart record for which Andy's mix became the 7" Radio Mix. He has also recently given his trademark sound to, DT8'S top 20 'Sun Is Shining Down On Me' as well as mixing Chris Coco's 'Only Love' and revamping releases for Hed Kandi and Peter Rauhofer's *69 Record label. One of the most versatile DJs around, Andy remains the consumate professional behind the decks. He can rock a progressive house crowd in the small hours or play the funkiest tracks early doors. His preferred style is a rocking blend of chunky tribal sounds although Andy's adaptability has always been his major strength.Andy's new project is OATMEAL RECORDS, a record shop/distribution company/webshop/anything you may wish to find.....
