About Me

HeavenBlast was born in winter '95 as project of singer Marco La Corte and guitarist Alessandro Saponaro. In the beginning the music they played was soft rock, but it evolved in classic metal with guitarist Donatello Menna (who joined the band in september '96) and then, into power metal with drummer Diego Chiacchierini (in june '97). After having reached stability, (except for the bassist, which was unstable in Heavenblast's early evolution) the band obtained a certain approval in some small concerts and pubs, with many songs in a true teutonic metal style Gamma Ray-like with some progressive moments, creating a very personal and characteristic sound. In summer '98 the boys decided to record a demo, "The Crown of the Light". Although the 5 tracks haven't got a good production, they drew success among people and magazines. In winter '98 Diego Regina, keyboardist, entered the band, addressing the music to a much more progressive yet symphonic style: this line-up went on to write many new songs; the first being "The Hero of the Eternal Flame", a very epic and impressive song, and "Last Smile", a powerful and struggling ballad. The style of the band is now well defined and personal. In February 2000, Fabrizio Carota joined the band, and in july 2000 another demo was recorded (called simply "Heavenblast") mainly in order to test the band's skill in studio work, but also to let people know how the style evolved and the band improved since "The Crown of the Light". In spring 2001 the band recorded its S/T first full leght album for the famous Italian label, "Underground Symphony" in Zenith Studios, Lucca (LU), and was mixed at New Sin Audio Design Studios, Loria (TV). Not very long after the recordings, Diego Regina and Fabrizio Carota left the band, being soon replaced by Francesco Di Giandomenico and Lorenzo Colucci. With this new line-up, the style slowly loses the symphonic features, addressing instead towards a personal, colorful, dynamic and heavy sound (without losing the idea of catchy melody, a constant feature in Heavenblast music): this new path was celebrated in November 2003, in New Sin Audio Design the second full lenght album, "Flashback", which tells a story about the future of mankind in a sci-fi but also a bit prophetic way. More, the album features 2 female vocalists (one of them is Federica "Sister" De Boni, formerly of White Skull), a guitar solo from Aldo Lo Nobile (Secret Sphere) and a cover: "The Show Must Go On", by Queen.
Flashback was finally released in december 2007, and Francesco leaves the band because of misunderstandings and aims' incompatibility with the other members, again promptly replaced by Nico Di Benedetto. Notwithstanding the long wait the bad has been writing several new songs: the progressive features are now pretty remarkable and the fast-tempos are not a "must" anymore. The band is virtually ready for a 3rd album...
