About Me

Son of one of Jamaica’s well known artists from the 70’s – Jackie Brown. – Chistopher Robinson Brown (AKA Bush T), was born in Kingston Jamaica. Grew up in Stone Hill St Andrew.. Even as a child- always had musical tendencies…Writing his first track entitled “Stay With Me” about his first love at aged nine, he went on to perform covers of his father’s track’s at aged 10 via musicals at school, talent shows, sound clashes etc…Later on, at age 20 he attended Jamaica’s School of Music, learning to play the guitar and song write and trained his voice. He then formed his first band “Naica-Maj” who consisted of Jermaine Forde, Chalik Campbell and Pernel Dixon. This was a 2 year wonder. Although none of their songs were actually released they were popular with all the residents of Stone Hill. After the 2 years – everyone else other than Chalick went on to migrate to other countries and sought success elsewhere in the world with their musical talents.During this same time - his uncle- Castro Brown landed in Jamaica in the 80’s – giving Christopher his first professional break – as a studio engineer for a new label called “New Name Music”. This gave him the opportunity to work with stars such as Luciano, Mikey Spice, Lady Saw and Jermaine Forde....................................................... ...During the Reggae Sound Splash of ’92- Bush T was invited to Paris by Jah Youths Promotions – where he joined them in their performances around the country – touring for a year before returning home.He spent another year with “New Name Music” working with the likes of Derrick Barnet and Selasie (of Studio One) - again as a sound engineer. At this time the place to be for all up-and-coming Reggae artists was the UK!!! – so it was at the age of 25 he jumped on the next plane to London. Starting off in Brixton (South London) – he started kicked off with other hopeful reggae artists continuing his singing, song writing, and he did gigs around London (i.e. Rock Gardens Club and the Blues Bar).He went on gathering inspirational influences from Black Uhuru, Bob Marley and his own trials, tribulations and successes. Composing too many songs to mention- he set about recording his Debut Album “Out of the Shadows” – which tells the story of his musical journey’s to date!
