In case you wanted to know. What time is it!
I love music. Can't even explain the extent. Got a mix of likes, not tied to one genre. Soul and R&B, Conscious Rap and Hip Hop (not really a fan of the bling bling, kill a 'nigga', pound a 'nigga', Rimz and Timz, big cars, flashin cash, pimpin 'hoes' and 'bitches', grillz (wat the fuck is up wid dat!!), big chains (off the wrists on the brains), shallow, race destroying rap and hip hop - by the likes of people like half sense) - I mean I guess I'll listen to it but I don't support it or subscribe to that or think it is good for our people. Unfortunately some idolise them and what they portray...which is very very worrying. Jessie Jackson should be lobbying against them! anyway...I like roots and culture (love it), dancehall (although I also have my reservations about the 'man fi dead' preachings that some of them promote, and the boody shaking ..can I call them ladies?...in the videos that filter into society..where women feel they need to go on exxxtra vulgar to get attention...but it's not positive attention), but yeh, I prefer this to that rap. I like alternative (indie) music and soft rock as well. Lauryn Hill! Sizzla (altho he a bit off key recently), Capelton, Richie Spice, Jill Scott, Goapele, Gil Scott Heron, Assassin, Erykah, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, The Roots,Dead Prez, Kindred the Famly Soul, Bilal, Jersey Monet, India Aire, Buju, Kariuki Arcane ;), Miriam Makeba, Spragga, Wu tang, Mr. Meth, Dire Straits, Jr. Gong, Nina Simone, Bascom X, I Wayne, Common, Anthony Hamilton, Missy, Ciara has tuff videos, Lyfe Jennings!Music makes me want to dance...dancing makes me want to live!
UUGGGHHH!!! Although I watch it I know it is bad for me!! Poison..thats what TV is. And American TV is just imposing its culture on the world! Which is ill (in a bad way lol)-see wat I mean! People are searching for identities and tend to look outside themselves to know how they are supposed to act, what is right and what is wrong, what is socially acceptable...but that leaves us to the mercy of those who control these mediums..and ultimately our minds. Children are been exposed to things that they have no business with and been contaminated! as are the adults, so u mus can imagine what it is doing to our Children. Tv in itself could be a good thing, but the world is run by people who ultimately do not have our best interests at heart..in fact it is run by evil...so they show us things to mess with our minds, keep us from been creative, steal family time, show us indirectly how to act, trick us with subliminal messages, make us think we want things that we do not need, basically...steal our lives. Some people spend most of theirs watching it...a screen..a box...lowering our frequencies. Bun TV
Glitter GraphicsI love reading but my problem is that I read x amount a books 1 time and it takes me ages to finish 1!! I guess that's how I am wid nuff tings in my life...love variety and change..but then I find that I don't complete things enough..here are some of the books I'm readin :-
secrets and mysteries (Deniese Linn) - my Goddess book - the mysteries of being a woman;
The education and Mis-education of the Negro (2 books by Carter G Woodson) - about the process and lengths taken to mis-educate the Afrikan, to keep us enslaved and the path to our educational enlightenment;
Black Economics (Jawanza Kunjufu) - excellent book that I recommend every Black person read- a blueprint to how we can become economically empowered...which is the foundation to freeing ourselves (although the first step is knowledge and education of self. from there many barriers to our development will be broken and we would be able to set a clear, strong foundation for the advancement of Afrikans as a people. we'd be able to come together with good intentions and a common primary goal. We've been divided for too long..I-nity is strength!);
One Day My soul Just Opened Up (Iyanla Vazant) - a 40 day guide to freeing oneself from unnecessary turmoil; its about focusing on the things that really matter in life, trusting in The Creator and developing a closer relationship with (Him, Her, Them). 40 is a mystical number that apparently has the power to cure insanity (which most of us experience in our daily lives. This book helps to clear the shit away and allow light to flow freely through us ;
Take it personally! (Anita Roddick) - a cute, easy to read little book that goes into the evils of modern day capitalism and globalisation. Time to make a change ya'll! ;
The Princessa - Machavelli for Women (Harriet Rubin) - a very very powerful book that I am finding fascinating...female warfare...she teaches women how to fight everyday battles and get their way (win!) without compromising their dignity and morals. It's a 'man's world', which could explain why it is in a state of disarray!...this book guides women to use the characteristics she is born with to win a man's war, not playing by his rules (cause women shouldn't try to emulate men) but by making our own rules (which is the way to guarantee a victory). "A man sees the world as by moonlight which outlines every object. Women see into the details, which is indicative of their nature, but they get swallowed up by them and don't act. A Princessa must see and act." - a must read for every woman that wants to leave their mark on the world or is tired of things not going her way. every woman that feels defenseless in this world, who feels the power within them and needs to learn how to unleash it and every woman who does not know the power she has inside and needs to find the path to self discovery. every woman...this book is for you!© MCT Lyts
