Lena Love is in a category all of her own. She is not only a performer without peer, but she also a dancer, choreographer, show-coordinator, underground columnist and hostess extraordinaire. Lena's sexy androgynous look and chameleon personality has made her a favorite fixture on stages and at parties from across the world.
Lena's commitment to dance has been life long, having started training as a young child. Her talent and love of dance eventually lead her to competitive modern, jazz as well as ballet in Canada and the United States. As a teen, she began go-go dancing at raves, fashion shows and also traveling with dance artists working through record companies such as BMG and Hi- Bias. Lena€™s energetic dancing and intriguing look lead her to a four month tour in China where she developed her onstage performance in the Vegas -inspired club scene of Beijing. As the Toronto Gay scene expanded, Lena Love found a greater audience for her sometimes outrageous yet always entertaining stage performances. The relationship with her audiences was certainly mutual. Lena's onstage persona flourished with fans who encouraged her to be as glamorous and as uninhibited as her imagination permitted. This success of Lena's art took her even further to headline infamous burlesque troops in her home of Toronto such as Skin Tight Outta Sight and also being a feature act at such events as "Notorious! A tribute to Betty Page" where her performances were quoted as ..."she was like something out of The Dark Crystal movie€or maybe some kind of space reptile on Psychedelics...like a cross between Grace Jones and Steve Tyler, but way better, man...I think she eats break dancers for breakfast; how does anyone move like that?"Today Lena continues to delight and fascinate audiences with her unique and risque performances. Her corporate client list boasts such as leading brands as United Colors of Benetton, Indian Motorcycle, Benson and Hedges, Labatt, Bacardi Toronto and Miami just to name a few. She has danced and staged beside leading D.J's and artists including Peter Rauhofer, Abel, Manny Lehman, Victor Calderone, Tracey Young, Judge Jules, Danny Teneglia, Deep Dish, Bassement Jaxx, David Morales, Mark Anthony, Escape again, just to name a few, and place as feature dancer at an event for the likes of Boy George whom was spinning that night. Jeffery Sanker, the biggest circuit party organizer in the U.S. had discovered Miss Love years ago and has had her perform at his high profile events in Miami and Palm Springs. As well, lets not forget the high demand for appearances for Ric Sena's legendary man-magnet party Alegria, New York, Gay Pride, NYC, Cherry events, White Party in Ibiza Spain, and Gay Pride in Sao Paulo, Brazil where Lena has created and set a high status fixture. Lena Love has been the fascinating face of many clubs and events promoting events such as The Guvernment , Toronto, Sonic, Circa, Level, Leatherball, MLT, Beef Dip events, Squirt (Gay Pride), all in her hometown, Toronto. Also, the ever popular Altitude, Gay Ski-week in Whistler, British Columbia . She has toured across Florida with Muchacho Magazine and the legendary Kevin Aviance and continues to travel the world performing and hosting at all sorts of events and AIDS benefits in Canada and the United States including Fashion Cares in Toronto and Cherry in Washington D.C..
Lena Love's rising star has not gone unnoticed in the mainstream media. She has been the focus of a Much Music television feature, profiled in Icon Magazine, and won Best Float for Gay Pride parade two years in a row (2001, 2002), has cameoed numerous times as a feature club performer in QAF, and roles in Studio 54, and Blues Brothers 2000. She was interviewed on her work in the Toronto Star and quoted is "...all you need is Love" and was interviewed in Washington D.C.'s Metro Weekly and quoted as "one of the most fascinating denizens of the gay scene". Lena has also experienced being an icon columnist with "Whats Lena Lov'n?", in the underground Yumee Magazine and recently had the privilege of being a featured dancer for the superstar recording artist, Kristine W at Fashion Cares, Toronto.
