Life is full of surprises and challenges that tear at our soul. It is what you do with your newfound knowledge that forcasts where your life is going. What is art, and why is it important? A question that has been pondered for thousands of years, but seemingly unanswered and intangible from generation to generation.
Art is an expression of like minded individuals that has been exhumed from the arenas of the mind, body and soul. It is in one or all of these arenas that everyone is an artist and an art critic.
Some may disagree and say, “I don’t know art, but I know what I likeâ€. This very statement is an oxymoron and an Achilles in their plight. If you know what you like, within art, then you know art.
Art is a personal aspiration from the artist to the viewer. Not all individuals speak the same language, just as not all art speaks the same to all individuals. Art appreciation is not something that is taught, but is something that is born and matured, from within, over time.
We are born with a particular distinction that is encoded within our individual DNA. Over time, our personality evolved, due to the scientific principle of nature vs. nurture. It is this personality that states who we are, where we are going, and embraces our attitude, perceptions, likes and dislikes.
Hence, art is embedded and evolves from within from birth. It may be something as simple as a baby’s favorite color, shape or sound. These basic things are what fascinate us from birth. As our personalities and minds expand, so does that which stimulates these thoughts. With age, just like fine wine, one’s appreciation of art matures and blossoms into distinct individualized taste.
