About Me
Omega was born in 1977 in Newark New Jersey. In the same year Assata Shakur’s famously unjust trials finally ended in conviction. This travesty as well as many others set the tone for the early years of his life. A troubled youth, Omega kept to himself and learned to read before first grade. In his dying community of East Orange, New Jersey he found refuge in the music of the Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, Smoky, The Temptations and many other Motown Greats. As life went on and he found himself in the streets, Omega never lost his passion for words and music. Writing his first rap at the age of 10
He embarked on an incredible journey of pain and discovery, and never looked back. Through his adolescent and teen years, he developed a crisp delivery which combined sincere emotion with honest lyrics. Rapping on street corners, in park jams, open mics and anywhere else, Omega became locally recognized as a contender and as a staple in the community. By the time he reached age 17 this buzz became strong enough to attract the attention of Lauren Hill and Wyclef Jean of the world famous Fugees. Omega was officially inducted into the Refugee Camp for the purpose of “bringin’ dat street shit†to the eclectic sophomore effort “The Score†which went on to sell over 20 million copies.
After parting with the camp amicably, Omega returned to his quest for the perfect lyric. He collaborated with the queen Egypt, Newark's own Useff Majid, pluss Az-Iz and Slang Ton(R.I.P.) of Columbia’s Outsidaz on the N.A.C.
Project produced by the one and only DJ Hollywood of Twin Hype and funded by Whitney Houston. He was a regular performer at The Roots’ weekly “Black Lilies†jams in Manhattan along with Flo Brown, Scot Storch, and Jill Scott. Omega has performed and worked extensively with the planning committee at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. He has always been there for the youth of Essex county New Jersey and even founded and led the rap group Kings wit’ Crowns. Touring the state for years spreading the virtues of honor and strength as weapons against poverty and depression. He then went on to fund, promote, produce and distribute his official first album “The Ramblings of an Unfortunate Son†which hit the hood with a bang and is considered a classic by many connoisseurs. Today Omega is polished, focused and ready for action. A seasoned veteran by any standards, he brings a highly energetic, intelligent picture of the street so real you can touch it. This man is no pimp. This man is no playa. This man is a soldier, and his time is now. This profile was edited with The CricketSoda Myspace Editor
