Established in 2004, Coneblower Studios has built up a formidable reputation on the Isle of Wight. Situated across the top storey of a large detached house, it is small enough to be welcoming and homely, yet large enough to accomodate a full band. Built with a 'one-stop-shop' ethos in mind, bands and solo performers can record, oversee the engineering and mixing process and leave with a fully professional mastered album without leaving the front door.
Centred around a large analogue desk, artists then have the option of being recorded either completely in the digital domain or to analogue reel to reel or both. The studio has enjoyed a great deal of success from demoing unsigned local bands to recording complete albums, tracks from which have been used by the BAFTA awards and Radio 1. Many artists have praised the relaxed vibe of the studio and enjoyed the recording process seeing it as the antithesis of large, sterile, impersonal studios. And a happy band makes a better album!
The studio is situated at the centre of the Isle of Wight, making it easily accessible to local bands but also serves as a great base for visiting artists to explore this beautiful and tranquil island- a perfect excuse to escape while the bass player is attempting that tricky solo! There is a Travel Lodge within a short walking distance of the studio, across the site of the Nokia Isle of Wight festival, and the town of Newport is a 10 minute walk along a river footpath, where you will find all the usual shops, quaint pubs, hotels and as much or as little nightlife as you require.
Session players can be arranged prior to arrival at the usual Musicians Union fees.
