Association for cultural and artistic production KAPA Masarykova 24, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenija [email protected] KAPA Association for cultural and artistic production KAPA is active since 1994 in the fields of alternative and independent scene in Ljubljana and Slovenija. During this time we have organised series of concerts, festivals and other projects of civil importance. All activities are being held inside the cultural place Metelkova City, www.metelkova.org, the last stronhold of independent culture in Ljubljana. We are trying to develop an independent and alternative society, wich is not under influence of any authority or restraint. The main activity of KAPA is organisation of concerts and festivals, mainly taking place in Gala hala venue or in an outdoor concert place behind the club (Gala hala Summer stage). We are also publishing CD's (under the label named KAPA records), providing places for rehearsal and we have an audio recording studio.Association KAPA has currently 20 active members and manny supporting members. The programme directors are Andrej Sevsek ([email protected]) and Katarina Deskovic ([email protected]). The membership is opened at [email protected] We finance from the Ministry of culture, City of Ljubljana, Institut Francais, with our own production and most of all with a lot of unpayed work. Lately we work a lot in the fields of international promotion of Slovene music. We have organised some tours, concerts and residencys for groups Moveknowledgement, Red Five Point Star, Backstage, Olivija, Intimn Frizurn and Dj's Dado, DJ Borka, Srecna Mladina, Overflow. We work closely with the organisations Drugi Most (Grenoble, France; festival Du Monde aux Balkans), Kao Konnektion (Lyon, France, project Zikeo), Alors, on le fait...(Exchange tours), MXH (Music Export Hungary), Europavox Festival, Roadshock agency etc. VENUE GALA HALA The venue Gala hala is a place for max.350 people and it hosts around 100 shows during the year. We mostly organise concerts, but also DJ events, videoprojections etc. The genre spreads from reggae, hiphop, punk, hard core, rock, rock'n'roll, metal, dub, ambiental, trip hop to breakbeat and drum'n'bass. All the names that appear on the stage are inside the underground music scene and are not in the mainstream. We also have some regular shows: Rapetek (hiphop concerts/every last Friday of the month), Zeleno sonce(funk event; every first Friday of the month), DrrMrrr orto Punk Festival (mid of September), Kapa records festival (concerts of the groups signed to our independant label), Dub Club (French electro-dub scene). AUDIO STUDIO The audio recording studio was established with an intent to create our own sound production. It's also linked with the venue Gala hala and with the rehearsal room wich is an exellent opportunity to record live preformances and rehearsals. It's open for those who are interested for learning more about working in a recording studio.
