About Me
Lucrezio de Seta is one of Italy’s most talented drummers. He has recorded and toured
with many notable artists. The list includes such greats as Donovan, Fontella Bass,
Chrissy Hynde, Astrud Gilberto, Michael Landau, Tollak along with Italian artists like Stefano Di Battista, Alessandro Safina, Alex
Britti and PFM Premiata Forneria Marconi, just to name a few.
In 1999, inspired by the musical genius of the Fagen/Becker duo, Lucrezio formed the
original 8 piece combo which became the Scurvy Brothers Band.
Many would call it a
cover - or better a tribute-band, but the Scurvys are much more than that...
The original repertoire included hits as well as less known compositions by the
groundbreaking cult band Steely Dan and in 2002, for the 25th anniversary of the
publishing of ‘The Nightfly’ by Donald Fagen, the concert you can enjoy in this CD became
reality. It has not been an easy task, since it involved a newly formed Brass section, and a
whole lot of preproduction work. The members of the Scurvy Brothers are professionals
from different musical areas, who nonetheless appreciate the subleties and beauty of the
savvy mix of Blues, Jazz and Rock present in the compositions by Donald and Walter and
who dedicated a large part of their Time and Passion into the preparation of a show which
has never been played live before...
This is a true celebration of a Masterpiece, which still represents a fundamental reference
point for musicians and music enthusiasts from all over the world. Nightfly fans will surely
appreciate the numerous deviations from the original instrumental and vocal parts just
as much as some ‘note to note’ reproductions of a few ‘signature’ solos.
It is not and never will be Lucrezio de Seta’s intention to clone the artistry and skills
of such gigantic musical personalities as Gregg Phillinganes, Jeff Porcaro, Michael
McDonald, Steve Jordan, Michael and Randy Brecker, Larry Carlton, Marcus Miller,
Steve Gadd, Larry Carlton among others, and the Scurvy’s interpretation of this music is
just a different, passionate and highly enjoyable vision of the same picture.
