There are a lot of questions about the Brown Berets. Mainly who are they and what do they do. The Brown Berets originated and still are an organization that is dedicated to the community at large. We are a community based civil rights organization with the ability to defend the community. Our goals are the protection of those whom are defenceless against police brutality and violence of gangs, enhance the education of the people in the community, and to instill a sense of enpowerment in the community. To be a beret, it requires a lot of discipline. To wear the beret also requires a heavy commitment to the people. Not just anyone can be a Brown Beret. To those that feel they are interested in being a beret are invited to come. We welcome all.
