I am here for Friends

About Me

In any case, I have just recently completed a 6 week course of physical therapy, and am now increasing daily the amount of aerobic and anaerobic exercise that I do. Water is my best friend. Read my Exercise and dancing blog post for more details.

I know a LOT about computers, net-working, net-work protocols, electronics, computer security, hacking, computer/net-work architecture, computer science, rf scanners, cell phones, fiber optics, lasers, photonics, fractals, logic...

Did I mention I do a lot with computers?

I enjoy doing activities on my computer, including programming, discovery of the depths of Linux and Unix [like Linux, BSD, and Solaris: I am not too caught up in the illusion of "distributions".]

I enjoy computer games, especially old text adventures.

I blog, therefore I am.

I do my daily activities on computer based equipment [which includes everything from coffee makers, vacuum cleaners, and electric razors, to Cell Phones, Xbox's, and my laptop: most modern electronic devices have a microprocessor of some kind or the other.

My xbox is hacked, and I do a lot with Xbox Media Center, and play quite a few games.

I am into movies deeply. I watch everything from horror movies and modern action films, to classic films from silent film to modern. I like indie films. I like movies with plot, good character development, and some form of engaging action. I also enjoy surrealism in films such as Naked Lunch, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and Existenz.

I am into music. I play a five string bass. I alternate between my two Cali Fenders. One is a Teal Roscoe Beck that was made custom for me. The other is a Candy Apple five string precision with a custom 5 p and semi standard 5 j pickup. What can I say, I like low frequencies. I like making people have uncontrollable bowel movements. I like my Southpark. What I play is a lot of 8 and 12 bar blues, with some mistakes, er, improvisation. I gave a 14 year old kid my first 5 string bass [Fender Mexi 5 Jazz] as a birthday present. Someone I didn't even know. A kid of someone I knew from work that I had only talked to when I went out for a smoke. I do these sorts of things.

I enjoy the outdoors, walking in the woods, writing, reading, and just talking, or better yet, just listening.

My Interests

Shamanism, Buddhism, Bön, wicca, ritual magick, mysticism, photography, history, computers, Linux, Xbox gaming, electronics, gadgets, movies, Science Fiction, and the everflowing nature of reality.

I like my computer(s). My computers are goot.

I'd like to meet:

For general conversation, smart people. I am interested in people that are into art, music, creative writing, film, or history. I am also capable of conversing intelligently with people that are into computer technology (internet, programming, hardware hacking, security, etc.)

The whole idea of touching is just ooky. Just touching another person for shaking hands. Eeeeek! [Think of the character Monk from the TV series Monk, from the USA Net-work on cable. That is me!] I am partly dysfunctional socially. Mainly, because society is dysfunctional, and I don't want to be any part of it.

I am somewhat vain, in that I enjoy dressing in a fashion that brings a dash of colour to the world. This isn't shallowness. It is the realization that a majority of the world is in a state of depression, and a splash of colour and gentlemanly jovial attitude can do much to make the world a better place.

There is also something to be said for black T shirts with some sort of radical wisdom, or in your face comments. Perhaps considered by some to be low class. If it helps to make me different than the weirdos in Hollywood, I will consider myself blessed. [Most Hollywood types are air heads that have no idea what the real world is. The closest most of them get to reality is acting parts that they have never experienced of a fictional story. That's pretty bad, and pretty sad.]

I also do videocalls with Netmeeting or Skype with intelligent people. I have better things to do with my life than spend time with cretins who want to hump my leg.

Music:

I like Dixieland/Big Band/Swing [Benny Goodman, Les Brown and his Band of Renown, Maxine Sullivan, The Dorsey Brothers, Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Cab Calloway, Lionel Hampton, Gene Krupa, Jimmy Lunceford, Charlie Barnett, Larry Clinton, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glen Gray, Martha Tilton, Bob Crosby, Ray Anthony, Erskine Hawkins, Fats Waller, Woody Herman, Duke Heitger, Kurt Edelhagen, Bobbie Darren, Frank Sinatra, Pied Pipers, etc.] , classical [Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Mendelson, Vivaldi, Wagner, Teleman, Baroque, etc.], dance club, ambient, 50's rock, and well done jazz, served straight up with melodies and instrumental coordination.

I used to like classic rock. Used to. A few exceptions exist. I like glam rock, like David Bowie and company; I also like AC-DC, The Pixies, Soundtrack to Repo Man, Beatles, Allman Brothers, Joe Walsh, Donovan, Moody Blues, Beck, Billy Idol, Def Leppard, Box Car Racer, Collective Soul, Duran Duran, INXS, The Doors, Nirvana, Atari Teenage Riot, Roy Orbison, Sugar Ray [Lemonade and Brownies rocks hard!], The Cars, The Offspring, Too much Joy, Van Halen

I do not like rap. I hate rap. I loathe rap. I also don't like classical or jazz that sounds like sixteen feral cats thrashing about in a piano.

Movies:

The Bed Sitting Room, Fight Club, Thunderbirds are Go (1966), Tune in Tomorrow, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Dead Calm, Constantine, V for Vendetta, Donnie Darko, Ninth Gate, Repo Man, Secondhand Lions, The Notebook, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, The Amazing Mr. Ripley, Beyond the Sea, Thursday, Nero, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Bladerunner, Total Recall, Last Action Hero, Terminator, Terminator 2, Logan's Run, Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Jedi, Fritz Lang, "Bogie", "Katie", Fifth Element, Naked Lunch, Existenz, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, Twelve Monkeys, Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), Young Frankenstein, Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, John Carpenter films, B horror movies, black and white, and early colour classics in VistaVision and Cinemascope.

Television:

Columbo, Smallville, Stargate SG-1, Star Trek [the original series], Space 1999, Thunderbirds, Queer as Folk, Barney Miller, All in the Family, Deadwood, Rome, Band of Brothers, Twin Peaks, Sopranos, Dr. Who, Big Blue Marble, Monty Python's Flying Circus, and Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood, Special Report with Brit Hume, Oreilly, News with Shephard Smith [the "Shepster".] Battlestar Galactica Old and New.

Slightly farther down on my list is Eureka, the 4400, and The Shield

At the bottom of my list, but still somewhat enjoyable, are cop dramas in general. Sometimes... On occasion... But not too much too frequently... Too many explosions and women screaming.

Books:

Davinci Code, Decipher, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, Heart of Darkness, The Phantom Tollbooth, A Wrinkle In Time, Old Mother West Wind, Alice In Wonderland, Through The Looking Glass, The Time Machine, The Sleeper Awakes, Dune, Sonnets by the great Bard, Science Fiction, nonfiction [fractals, science, technical, and computer topics], "Classics", Oswald Bastable, Elric, Well World series, Philip K. Dick, Zelazny, you get my jazz.

Heroes:

President Ronald Wilson Reagan is my biggest hero. Other heroes include John Wayne, Omar Bradley, and everyone in the armed services, and their families.

Lance Bass, Bob Metcalf, Martin Gardner, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Confederate President Jefferson Davis, Linus Torvalds, Arthur Rimbaud, and the Chinese man that stood in front of the tank in Tienamen Square.

Bob Crosby gets special mention, as he spun some real hip swing music, was born in Spokane, Washington in 1913, and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1944.
