What IS reality, anyway?

About Me

The offspring of two blacksheep, I proudly carry on the tradition. I am married and live on the Central Coast of California. It is difficult to answer the heading, "About Me," because I have lived a life in which I have repeatedly redefined myself. I am not a linear person--I have been a farmer, craftsman, soldier, cartoonist, firefighter, teacher, writer, singer, actor...and the list goes on. It sometimes seems that I have lived several lives within my lifetime, and I'm proud to say that I have lived each of them to the fullest. I have rappled down the cliffs of Chejudo and swam in the Yellow Sea. I've ridden a half-wild mustang horse on mountain trails, and have been in a tornado. I was once chased off of a mountain by a wall of flame, and survived a rockslide in Yosemite. I may not have a huge nest-egg built up, nor will I ever receive a gold watch...but have I lived? Oh yes, I have lived. More about me...let's see...well, I like the outdoors, and never get tired of hiking new trails--I always have to see what lies beyond the next hill or bend in the path. My wife and I love to travel, and have been many interesting places. My favorite diversion if I'm not outdoors is reading a good book (or trying to write one). I enjoy writing a story damn near as much as reading one. I have a lot of experiences from which to draw.

My Interests

Hiking, splashing around in the ocean, reading, writing, travel, history, the supernatural, and visiting with friends and family.

I'd like to meet:

People who are intelligent and share the same interests. My higher self (been waiting a long time to meet that character). Another ghost. Writers. The Loch Ness monster. Not necessarily in that order.

Music:

Mostly rock, but a mixture of things. Depends on the mood. Used to be the lead singer of a small country band, and have written songs. I listen to all types,as long as they're worth hearing.

Movies:

Action/Adventure, Comedy, SciFi, Horror--I'll even break down and watch something decent once in a while. I don't understand movie snobs who get caught up in the whole art and presentation of a film...I just go to be entertained.

Television:

Some, not much. Will watch the news until I become depressed and turn it off.

Books:

Historical, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, How-To books, classics.

Heroes:

I'm pretty darn heroic when I'm alone in a locked room.

A Carterism

The only two advantages of being a pessimist are that you're seldom wrong and, when you are, it's always a pleasant surprise
