Femmy works as a vocal coach at music school CKC in Zoetermeer and at music school koorenhuis in The Hague.
FEMMY FISSCHER
(1984) was born in Zoetermeer. She started singing at an early age. She went to church until she was 12 years old and sang religious songs at elementary school. She found out her true passion for singing when she was 15 years old and performed in musical plays at her high school.Music gave her joy, strenght and the courage to persue her dreams. After she graduate the lower general secondary education she also gratuated higher general secondary education. She started studying at the music of conservatory, situated in Rotterdam but she quickly stopped because of vocal problems. She´d never intented to go back to school because she was so busy playing and writing with her Dutch hiphop / soul / funk band “New Groove Habits†and she hated school anyway.
With this group she performed at several big venues in the Netherlands, such as the Paradiso, Melkweg, Nighttown, Lions Jazz, Paap and across the borders in Ireland. In 2004 The New Groove Habits were booked as opening act for the well known Dutch band Di-rect.
In 2005 she got casted to play the role of 'Despina' for a hip hop opera called 'Zo Zijn ze', arranged and composed by Bob Zimmerman and Tjeerd Oosterhuis. (A play inspired by Mozart's opera 'Cossi Fan Tutte'). With this play she toured troughout the Netherlands. For dates go to http://www.zozijnze.nl/. In this same year she also performed with Nurlaila Karim.
In 2006 the band members of New Groove Habits parted ways and each member of the band started working on their individual projects. Femmy decided it was time to move on and persue her one and only big dream: writing lyrics and performing as solo artist Femmy Fisscher. She started foccusing on her writing skills and wrote and recorded some of her own songs together with guitarist Jeroen Rosbeek (New Groove Habits/Phat Groove Phoundation), who´s not only a big inspiration for her but also her great love.
In the summer of 2007, Femmy wrote and recorded together with Jeroen Rosbeek a song called 'Kleur' for the Dutch Salvation Army.
Femmy is someone who uses music to express her emotions and share her insecurities, happiness and miseries with the world.
