Richard Seba (Richard Sebastiaan van Vliet) is a young singer/songwriter from Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. Before he discovered his passion for the guitar at age 16, he tried the keyboard for three years and played drums for a while at high school. His first song, ‘Time Of My Life’, is based on the first three guitar chords he learned from his friends. The song wasn’t a masterpiece but was the beginning of a new interest: songwriting. Richard enjoys expressing himself through music. Writing songs is a nice way for him to reflect on life and put it in perspective. After his high school years and two school bands, Butterfly and Explosion, Richard began a new band in 2003: FoReasoN. He and three friends created a mix of pop, rock, blues, and soul. FoReasoN’s highlight of success was the presentation of its EP ‘Unjustified Intelligence’ at the De Boerderij Concert Hall. Shortly after that, FoReasoN disbanded because of differences in artistic opinion. Richard Seba carried on as a solo singer/songwriter. He performed on different stages, in theatres and clubs in the Hague area and recorded his third EP ‘Miles Away from Davis’ in 2007. The songs are straight from the heart and deal with life’s experiences, friendship and love. ‘Miles Away From Davis’ was written to give hope to an old friend. Although it is a sad song, you won’t just hear about heartbreak on this EP! Freed from the pressure of a band and rich in new experiences, Richard is enjoying song writing once again and takes his time to write meaningful lyrics. He’s looking forward to bringing those stories to the studio to record them and to perform them on stage. His priority now is to enjoy the music and ‘let the inside come out.’
