BiographyAs one of Australia’s most respected industry figures, John Morley aka DJ Kontrol has been spinning tunes for 11 years. In 2001 he was chosen to attend the Red Bull Music Academy in New York, as one of only 2 DJs to represent Australia, with 35 other DJs and producers from around the world.In his career he has been awarded up and coming DJ of the year in the South Australian Music Awards, Adelaide's number 1 DJ, runner up most popular DJ 4 times, Inthemix Top 50 DJ, as well as taking out numerous awards as Marketing Manager, winning best promoter, best dance event x4, best special event, best nightclub (Heaven) over 1000, 7 years in a row and best club night 7 times over.In the late 90’s he was renowned for breaking the kicking Dutch sound and today he is regarded for his club house and smooth girlie house, which has earned him bookings as warm up act for Tony De Vit, Warp Brothers, Tidy Boys, Rachel Auburn, Jeff Mills, Darude, Joey Beltram, 4 Strings, Steve Hill, Jon Langford, Bob Ltd, Lab 4, Roger Sanchez, Til West and Judge Jules to name but a few.But it is for his production that John Morley is now starting to make it on the world stage. 2004 saw the release of his first production “Get Down” on Holland’s Midtown records. He then headed to Germany in 2005, for the start of a partnership with Ollie Goedicke, of D.O.N.S fame, also one half of the Warp Brother’s and Managing Director of Unlimited Sounds Germany. The first 3 tunes in this new partnership in “Shouting Out”, Brothers & Sisters” and “Friday Night”, were all released on a number of compilations worldwide.In 2006 it was off to Holland again to finish off “You Gotta Know” a remake of the Cappella classic, which is due for release on Midtown. Recently John Morley has returned from overseas again, where he played Singapore’s Forbidden City Festival, and Tendance Festival In Russia, with 20,000 in attendance playing alongside Hi Tak, Cosmic Gate, D.O.N.S, Pulsedriver, Til West, Fedde Le Grand, Tocadisco and Benjamin Bates.Whilst away he secured more mixes, for his new house tune “Tell me why”, produced with Steve Hart and “Naughty”, an electro/rock number, both of which are coming out in the new year and have been signed to Kingdom Kome in Europe.
