Hard Rocking Finnish AC/DC Bon Scott -era coverband! Lyrics are in Finnish language!
Band's name is exactly the same in Finnish as it is in English:
VV (vaihtovirta) = AC (alternating current)
TV (tasavirta) = DC (direct current)
Yea, yea, yea... we know that someone out there thinks that playing in a cover band is a bit lame thing to do but hey, most of us got our own musical careers too, ok ;-) We do this just for kicks!
The band was formed in Savonlinna, Finland, a way back in 1986!
At that time two students (Tarmo and Mika) studying at the same local university, "The Savonlinna Department of Teacher Education" we're talking over a couple of beers and listening to old AC/DC songs thinking how it would be cool to play that stuff in Finnish language. After a few more beers... actually a lot more, they decided to make it happen for real and that's how it all began.
Tarmo and Mika had a lot of fellow musicians in town and it was easy for them to find a guitarist to join them.
So, the band was started first as a trio with the following lineup:
Tarmo Raatikainen - vocals, bass
Ilpo Tossavainen - guitar, backing vocals
Mika Hollström - drums
It didn't take too long to realize that the band needed more players for more AC/DC -like sound and a bassist (Arto "Artsi" Piutunen) was added to the lineup helping Tarmo to fully concentrate on the vocals and a lead guitarist (Pekka "LoDe" Loikkanen) was added just a bit later.
Our bassist "Artsi" was later replaced by Mikko Tukiainen and no other changes has been made in the band since the band's early days.
We are at our best performing live and we like doing gigs a lot more than fooling around in a studio, so there's no newer material since the year 2000. And of course there's the money issue too ;-)
As you know by now, VV/TV is formed just for fun and because we like the early AC/DC stuff that much, we'll keep the band working as long as possible!
Some of us have our own careers in the music scene, so nowadays we'll do gigs occasionally and maybe record some new material someday.
