My Interests

I love Davidic dancing. I play piano (not great) and am teaching myself guitar. I am slowly learning biblical Hebrew. I study kosher kabbalah. I am an avid reader. I enjoy camping, riding bikes, all kinds of outdoor stuff. I study herbs and natural living, and experiment on whomever will let me. I like cemetaries, railroads, and urban neighborhoods. My children are my first ministry, but my heart has always been with the homeless and illiterate. I make scrapbooks for my kids, and like to write old-fashioned snail mail letters. I love journaling and taking walks in nature. I like to lie on my back and watch clouds or look at stars. I especially love to swim, although I don't get to very much at this stage in my life. I do pilates for stress relief. I enjoy drawing, painting, photography, etc. (none of which I excel at). I work in sporadic bursts on learning ASL. I'm not proficient in any hobby or interest. There is too much that interests me...this world is full of things to explore and learn. I'm a sponge, soaking it all in. All of life's joys and pleasures are a gift from Yah. Why limit myself? I'll try anything that strikes my fancy. Like that genealogy I still need to get back to, or that half-stripped piece of furniture. I am bad about starting things and not finishing, or just shelving them indefinately when the next adventure comes along. I will die with a lot of unfinished projects, but a great sense of having explored as much as I could. One day, I want to cliff dive in Hawaii and swim on the back of sting-ray. I have a very special fondness for rocks and fossils. I like listening to AM radio, especially Coast to Coast. I enjoy reading poetry. I think if I were to define myself in one phrase, it would be "Liberal Arts".

Selections from Rilke's "Book of Hours" (Part 1: The Book of a Monastic Life)

I read it here in your very word, in the story of the gestures with which your hands cupped themselves around our becoming--limiting, warm. You said live out loud, and die you said lightly, and over...
